Toyota, a Japanese car maker is looking to tap the C-segment with its upcoming Yaris sedan which was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018 last month. The upcoming sedan has also been spied testing on the Indian roads post its public debut. The forthcoming Toyota Yaris 2018 sedan will be positioned below Corolla Altis in Toyota’s line up for the domestic market. The Maruti Ciaz and Honda City challenger is also referred as Toyota Vios and Yaris Ativ in other international markets. Design: Talking about the design, the new Toyota Yaris sedan will carry signature grille at the front along with automatic LED headlamps and LED DRLs, circular fog lamps, 15-inch alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, Shark-fin antenna and much more. Dimension-wise, the sedan will 4425mm long, 1730mm wide and 1475mm tall while the wheelbase of the sedan will stand at 2550mm. The ground clearance will measure 133mm. Interior: On the inside, the new Yaris sedan will feature dual tone cabin with all-black dashboard layout highlighted by high-tech features like a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, 4.2-inch MID, power driver’s seat, ambient lighting with roof-mounted air vent and much more. On the safety front, the new Yaris will be equipped with 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, Tyre-Pressure Monitoring System, VSC, HSC, all-wheel disc brakes, parking camera at the rear, parking sensors on the front as well as rear and more.

Engine Specifications: Coming to the powerhouse, the all-new 2018 Yaris sedan is speculated to be seen in the petrol derivative initially which could be a 1.5-litre dual VVT-i unit. The motor will be tuned to produce maximum power of 105 bhp against the peak torque of 140Nm which will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard along with 7-speed CVT unit. Price: On the price point, the new 2018 Toyota Yaris sedan is expected to carry a very competitive price tag as per the market reports are concerned. The sedan is likely to fall in the price bracket of INR 8 lakh to INR 13 lakh (ex-showroom). Expected to launch in the domestic market soon, the bookings for the sedan is speculated to commence from April onwards.

Competition: As far as the competition is concerned, the new Yaris 2018 sedan will compete against the big names such as Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento and others in the C-segment.
