Upcoming luxury Cars of 2015: India's top 5 most awaited luxury cars to be launched in 2015

The last 2 years of sales has shown luxury carmakers that Indian buyers are the not the ones to shy away from heavy price tags. That being said, the Indian automotive industry is about to see a huge surge of cars which are to be launched in 2015 and the list also holds a number of luxury cars that are expected to be seen on Indian street by the end of the year. The top 3 most awaited luxury cars that are to be launched in 2015 are Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class, BMW i8, Jaguar XE an all have been priced in the range of INR 30 lakhs to 2 Cr.

Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class

Mercedes is now entering the market with much smaller, younger and sportier models like the upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class. The CLA marks the Germen carmaker’s first launch of 2015, which earlier this year already launch the more powerful performance oriented variant CLA45 AMG.

The Saloon is much sleeker and compact compared to Mercedes-Benz’s flagship sedans and shares the same underpinning as the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, B-Class and the recently launched GLA-Class. Offered both in petrol and diesel variants, the CLA-Class comes with a 2.0-litre petrol engine the produces 183.5PS of peak power and 300Nm of peak torque. As for the diesel variants that comes with a new 2.2-litre oil-burner, capable of 136PS of peak power and 300Nm of peak torque. Both the petrol and diesel engines will be mated to Mercedes-Benz’s tried and tested 7G-DCT automatic transmission with a dual clutch setup.

BMW i8

Germen carmaker BMW is all set to launch its ‘I’ series in India and the first one to reach the Indian shore is BMW i8. The i8 will reach the Indian maker as CBUs in limited number and will be receiving a premium price for its exclusivity.

Being a hybrid sports car, the i8 looks very futuristic with an attention grabbing persona. The engine powering this mean machine is equally noteworthy with a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor producing 231PS of power and 320Nm of torque and an electric motor that adds another 131PS and 250Nm to the i8 giving it a combined output of 362PS and 570Nm. BMW claims that i8 can do the 0-100kmph sprint in just 4.4 seconds and it has a limited top speed of 250kmph.

Jaguar XE

The Jaguar XE has been creating a lot of anticipation among luxury car buyers in India and as if to increase our anticipation he British carmaker has slated a mid-2015 launch for this new generation sedan.

The first model to be developed from Jaguar Land Rover's new modular vehicle architecture, the Jaguar XE features a long wheelbase and low seating position that enables perfect proportions and a streamlined, coupe-like profile. The exterior is a mash up between XF and XJ with the front sporting a massive chrome mesh grille complete with the leaping cat. Standard features are expected to be projector headlights, LED daytime lights and projector fog lamps. 

Putting this baby into momentum will be the British automaker’s first vehicle to be derived from an all-new aluminium platform and engine family called Ingenium which will comprise units in the capacity of 1.8-litres to 2.5-litres and have power outputs in the range of 184bhp to 300bhp.
