India’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki has its work cut out for 2018-19, as the company plans to launch a number of new cars in India. The company has had a rather mixed start to the new year. The company has launched the new Maruti Suzuki Swift, while also revealing the Concept Future S and and the e-Survivor Concept at the Auto Expo 2018. Many expected the company to showcase the new-generation Ertiga, Ciaz Facelift and the Suzuki Vitara, which were not on display at the Maruti Suzuki stall at the Auto Expo 2018. That said, the company does have plans to launch quite a few cars in the coming two years. 2017 maruti suzuki s-cross faceliftNew Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Petrol – Suzuki recently launched the new S-Cross facelift in India, however, the company only launched the diesel variant in the country. The new Maruti Suzuki S-Cross sports new exteriors and premium interiors. With all the design changes, the S-Cross now looks more like an SUV than a crossover. With growing demand for petrol cars, Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the petrol variant of the S-Cross by mid-2018. The car is expected get a 1.5-litre M15A petrol engine that develops 110 BHP of power and 143 Nm of peak torque. Expect the S-Cross petrol to start at a price point of INR 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Maruti Suzuki Swift RS – Maruti Suzuki has launched the new Swift at the Auto Expo 2018 at a price of INR 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). However, the company has not revealed any details on the Swift Sport or the Swift RS. That said, given the fact the Maruti Suzuki already has Baleno RS in India, the company will first launch the Swift RS in India followed by the Swift Sport. The Maruti Swift RS will be powered by a 1.0-litre three-cyclinder, turbo-charged, BoosterJet petrol that produces 101 BHP of power and 150 Nm of peak torque. This engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. We can expect Maruti Suzuki to launch Swift RS in India around INR 8 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The company will soon launch the Vitara Brezza Petrol variant, powered by a 1.0-litre BoosterJet petrol engine. This unit produces 100.5 BHP of power and 150 Nm of peak torque, while it will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The new Ertiga will be longer, wider and feature rich and will compete against the upcoming Mahindra U321 MPV. According to recent media reports, the new Ertiga is speculated to be powered by the all-new 1.5-litre DDiS diesel engine that has been developed in-house by Maruti Suzuki. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Facelift – Recently, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz was spied testing in Delhi. According to the spied images, the car gets revised front and rear bumpers while the major change is on the insides. The car will get new instrument cluster with MID and faux wooden inlays on the dashboard, while the company might also equip the car with a cruise control system. The new Maruti Ciaz facelift will continue to be powered by the same 1.4-litre petrol & 1.3-litre diesel engine options. However, we can expect Maruti Suzuki to introduce the 1.6-litre diesel unit and a 1.0-litre BoosterJet petrol motor as part of the RS variant. Prices will be more or less similar to the existing model, however, the company will charge a premium if it plans to launch the more powerful petrol and diesel engines. Suzuki Vitara – Maruti Suzuki has been largely successful in transforming itself as a premium car maker with the launch of the NEXA dealerships. The company sells cars like Ignis, Baleno, S-Cross and the Ciaz through its NEXA dealerships. Recently, Maruti Suzuki’s Chairman, RC Bhargava hinted that the company might consider launching the Suzuki Vitara in India in the coming future. While not much is know about the Vitara, Maruti Suzuki might launch the car by the end of 2018. In a statement to ET Auto, RC Bhargava had said, Our product portfolio will cover these segments. Today we have covered only the compact SUVs, but as we along, we will also move with an SUV which is higher that the compact SUV. If launched, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara will rival the Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV500, Renault Duster and the Honda BR-V. Mechanically, the Suzuki Vitara is powered by two petrol and one diesel engine option. The 1.6-litre VVT petrol produces 120 BHP /156 Nm of power while the Vitara S, powered by a 1.4-litre BoosterJet engine produces 138 BHP / 220 Nm of power. The oil burner gets a 1.6-litre DDiS diesel unit that develops 120 BHP of power and 320 Nm of peak torque. Maruti Suzuki WagonR MPV – Maruti Suzuki recently revealed that it plans to launch three utility vehicles in India. One of these will be the Maruti Suzuki WagonR MPV. The WagonR MPV will be based on the WagonR hatchback and will come with a three row seat (seven seat) layout. The car is internally codenamed as YJC and will be under 4 meters in length. The Maruti Suzuki WagonR MPV will be powered by a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol unit, while the diesel variant is expected to get a 1.3-litre DDiS 190 motor. Both the engines will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
