2016 Volkswagen Passat:
When Volkswagen entered the Indian car market the Passat was its flagship car. Even though the car was well-equipped to compete against the likes of Skoda Superb, BMW 3 Series the car never truly made its mark in the Indian market. Following poor demand and falling sales Volkswagen discontinued the car last year. Having said that, the new 2016 Passat really has been creating a lot of buzz in the International market and Volkswagen believes with the right placement and pricing strategy, Passat could have a successful second innings.
Volkswagen Beetle: The VW Beetle is probably one of the most popular and iconic cars ever made by the German carmaker. The Beetle was a perfect combination of design, style and performance, but the one aspect which became the reason for the cars downfall in India was price. But just like the Passat Volkswagen believes that the new 2015 model of Beetle will be able to build a market that the previous model failed to create.
Volkswagen sub-compact sedan
At the Vento launch Michael Mayer revealed that Volkswagen will launch it first compact sedan in India next year. Based on the Polo platform, the upcoming Volkswagen sub-compact sedan will be competing with Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Zest and the soon-to-be-launched Ford Figo Aspire. Besides features, the sub-compact sedan will also share its engine options with the Polo and Polo GT. This too might make its debut at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.
Volkswagen Tiguan SUV:
The Volkswagen Tiguan has been creating a lot of anticipation in the India automotive market ever since Volkswagen revealed its plans to launch the SUV in India. The Tiguan will be publically showcased at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, followed by its launch in 2016. The vehicle is based company's MQB platform that also underpins several other Volkswagen Group cars. While internationally the SUV is available both in the 5-seater and 7-seater guise, the India-bound model will be a 7-seater as Volkswagen plans to complete with the big leaguers like Toyota Fortuner and Skoda Yeti.
Volkswagen Taigun Compact SUV:
At the launch Mayer revealed no information regarding the fifth product to be launched but seeing the growing demand for compact SUV we believe the Volkswagen India too is planning to roll out a vehicle in this segment. The compact SUV is likely to be based on the Tiguan SUV and will exceed the sub-4 metre category unlike its concept that made its debut at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.
