Mini has taken the wraps off a new concept called the Mini Vision. The concept previews the 2014 Cooper hatch but more importantly, it also gives us an indication of what to expect from the upcoming models of Mini.
Unveiled at the company’s design studio in Munich, this all-new concept shows off a variety of elements of Mini’s future designs. At the front, the oval headlamps now including ring-shaped LEDs around the outside and the hexagonal mesh grille are likely to feature in the 2014 Mini Cooper. It is highly unlikely for those oversized taillights and the grey cladding to make it to the upcoming model.
According to Mini, the Vision concept’s body-shell is made from ‘orango metal’ which happens to be particularly mouldable and very strong. Besides lightweight construction techniques, aerodynamics also play a leading role in the conceptual ideas behind the Vision concept. There’s an aerodynamic air intake and outlet around each front wheel arch, airflow-optimised wheel rims and exterior mirrors, and an integrated roof spoiler.
The Mini Vision concept will make its debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. The 2014 Mini Cooper, meanwhile, is expected to be unveiled sometime during the month of November.
