Volvo India has announced price revision of its range of passenger cars in India as a result of the new taxation imposed by the Union Budget 2016. As a result, most of the cars sold by Volvo in India has received a price hike, although a few models have also received a price reduction. Cars like the Volvo V40 Cross Country D3 Inscription has incurred a price cut of INR 3.04 lakh while the Volvo S60 Kinetic variant has received a price cut of INR 1.51 lakh and the S60 Momentum variant has got cheaper by INR 24000. Apart from this, all other car’s prices have been increased with the XC90 Inscription getting costlier by INR 2.33 lakh and priced at INR 80.23 lakh. With the revised pricing, Volvo car in India are now available in the range of INR 27.29 lakh and goes all the way to INR 80.23 lakh for the XC90 Inscription. All the above mentioned prices are ex-showroom Delhi without Octroi. More importantly, Volvo cars in India remain unaffected by the Delhi Diesel ban as all the cars are powered by sub 2.0-ltr diesel engines. Talking about the revision in car prices, Mr. Tom von Bonsdorff, Managing Director, Volvo India said, “This year’s budget has forced us to relook at the pricing in order to provide the best in class products to our customers. At the same time, we are pleased to be able to offer significant price reduction on S60 Kinetic, S60 Momentum and V40 Cross Country D3 Inscription variants, without compromising on the features and specification levels. Efficiencies of scale have enabled us reduce cost and hence pass on the price discount to our customers.”
