Today, the Indian arm of the Swedish automaker Volvo is set to launch the rugged and crossover avatar of its V90 estate in our country. Called the V90 Cross Country, this particular soft-roader is derived essentially from the S90 luxury sedan and comes as the third addition to the cross-country line-up of the automaker in India, after the S60 Cross Country and the V40 Cross Country.  Just like other Volvo cars in India, the V90 Cross Country too comes as an epitome of luxury along with the exquisite comfort that they offer. The V90 Cross Country, up-front, resembles quite a lot to the S90 sedan. It gets sharp LED headlamps with the automaker’s signature Thor’s hammer LED DRLs. The protruding bonnet stretches ahead with elegant creases while the side profile is adorned with bold character lines which end neatly in a sharp yet sporty rear end. A similar story exists inside the cabin of the V90 Cross Country. Though essentially alike to the one seen on the S90, the upholstery and some other minor details are unique to this rugged estate. Talking about the engine specifications of the Volvo V90 Cross Country, this estate will be offered in India with the same 2.0-litre diesel engine that comes powering the S90 sedan. However, instead of its D4 guise available in the latter, the one plonked into the V90 Cross Country is to be the D5 guise. What this means is that the oil-burner is now to churn out 235Bhp along with 480Nm of peak torque. The transmission responsibilities will be taken care of by an 8-speed automatic unit. Talking about prices, it could be safety assumed that the V90 Cross Country will be priced in a premium bracket and is to be slotted above the S90 sedan. Expect prices to fall in the range of INR 65 lakh to 70 lakh (ex-showroom).
