Volvo India is all set to launch the 2015 XC90 luxury SUV in India. Slated for a mid-2015 release, we expect the German carmaker to launch the XC90 in April. Unveiled last year in August 2014, the next-gen XC90 comes with some new exterior styling and mechanical upgrades for the India bound model. Volvo has not yet revealed its price but industry experts believe it will be priced in the range of INR 90 - 95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The XC90 is the first car to be based on Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) and will be reaching the Indian shores as CBUs (Completely Built Unit). Reports indicate that initially only 20 units of the top-end model will be coming to India. Though the deliveries are expected to start in July it is likely that Volvo will be launching the new XC90 in April. Vovlo has already opened the pre-bookings for the XC90 in India at the minimum down payment of INR 10 lakhs. Some of the Volvo dealers have confirmed that 11 booking have already been made for the 2015 Volvo XC90.

Quoted to be one of the safest SUVs in the world the Volvo XC90 measures 4,950 mm in length, 1,923 mm in width and 1,776 mm in height. Inside, the XC90 is expected to get some exclusive features like touchscreen display with Google Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, voice recognition and powered seats onboard. Four-zone climate control and dual tone steering wheel are also expected to be added. Moreover, it is also ecpected to receive a multi layered dashboard, dual tone steering wheel, gear lever designed by Orrefors and a state of the art music system from Bowers and Wilkins with 19 speakers.

As for its powerhouse the Volvo XC90 is momentum from a 1,969cc inline four cylinders, twin turbocharged diesel engine which is tuned to churn out a power of 228 PS of peek power and 470 Nm of peak torque. The engine will come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. On its arrival the Volvo XC90 will be locking horns with the likes of Audi Q7, BMW X5 and Mercedes GL Class.
