Coming to the bikes itself the 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 is available in two colours, Racing Blue and Racing Red while the YZF-R1 M can be ordered in only Silver Blue Carbon. In general both these machines basically feature the same engine specification. Both YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M use a 998 cc, four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that enables to them to produce a monstrous 200PS of power and a peek torque of 112.4Nm. Of course these figures are before the ram air effect takes place and releases a few more horses.

Other features include a slipper clutch, new crankshaft, Titanium con rods and a larger airbox. Another noteworthy feature is the body itself that weighs at just 199 kgs. Yamaha claims that it was able to achieve this light weight thanks to the new cast magnesium alloys that weighs 2kg less than before as well as the asymmetric aluminium frame. While both the bikes get a fuel tank capacity of 17 litres while the minimum ground clearance stands at 130mm. In terms of design one of the most significant features offered in the YZF-R1M is its engineering, which has been inspired by the company’s MotoGP bike, the M1. The similarities are quite evident when we see those gills on the tank and faired-in small headlamps.
