Maruti Suzuki Ciaz SHVS Hybrid Live Launch: Price in India, Specifications, features and diesel mileage
Maruti Suzuki India is launching the much awaited Ciaz mild hybrid today. Powered by the company all new SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) technology the new hybrid Ciaz will be Maruti’s first hybrid car for the Indian market. Being the first diesel hybrid in India the car will replace the standard diesel Ciaz in Maruti Suzuki’s current line up. As for price, Maruti is likely to add a premium of nearly INR 50,000 over the standard diesel Ciaz.
In terms of design and interiors the new Ciaz mild hybrid largely remains the same, but the case is quite different when we talk about mechanical changes. Though the hybrid Ciaz is mated to the same1.3-litre Multijet engine as the standard diesel version in addition, as mentioned earlier, it comes with the company’s SHVS system.
The system uses a lithium-ion battery which charges itself using regenerative braking. This basically means that the setup will combine brake energy regeneration through an Integrated Starter Generator, which converts the kinetic energy of the rolling wheels into electricity that is stored in the battery. Additionally the new hybrid Ciaz also comes with a Start-Stop technology or ‘A-Stop’ technology as Maruti Suzuki prefers to call it.
