Maruti Suzuki Ciaz SHVS Hybrid- Specifications, Mileage and Features
Maruti Suzuki, India's largest carmaker has finally launched the much-awaited Maruti Ciaz SHVS Diesel hybrid in the country. Priced at INR 8.23 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Ciaz SHVS is now officially the country's most fuel efficient car. It is claimed to return an impressive 28.09kmpl of fuel efficiency, which is around 1.88kmpl more than the standard diesel Ciaz.
The SHVS stands for Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki; the new Ciaz diesel gets a larger capacity battery, integrated starter generator and start-stop technology that helps in achieving high fuel efficiency. This new mild hybrid system features an ISG (Integrated Starter Generator) that provides engine power assistance using the motor and achieves improved power regeneration.
The vehicle's hybrid braking system along with start-stop technology automatically stops the engine at a traffic light and start upon releasing the clutch. The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz SHVS sedan is available with five variants- Vdi, Vdi (O), Vdi+, Zdi and Zdi+. The company has introduced new Vxi (O) and Vdi (O) variants, which are equipped with driver-side airbag as standard. The higher trims equipped with dual airbags, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) and EBD (Electronic BrakeForce Distribution).
The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz SHVS is powered by a 1.3-litre Multi-Jet diesel engine, coupled to a SHVS system, that is capable of producing of 88.5bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. This engine is paired to a five-speed manual gearbox which sends the power to front wheels.
On the other hand, the gasoline model is propelled by the same 1.4-litre DOHC engine that is good for 91bhp of power and 130Nm of torque. Transmission options include a five-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic gearbox.

For passenger entertainment and connectivity, the Ciaz gets Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, Navigation system, Voice Command, Audio/CD player, USB connectivity and speakers and tweeters. The vehicle also get multi-functional steering wheel with controls for audio and telephony.
Dimensionally, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is 4,490mm long, 1,730mm wide and 1,485mm tall, and it has a wheelbase of 2,650mm. The vehicle comes with a ground clearance of 170mm, and offers a boot space of 510-litres.
