The Maruti Suzuki Ignis has finally been launched in India, with prices starting at INR 4.59 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The car was launched at an event, which was headlined by world renowned EDM artist, DJ Axwell. The Ignis will be sold exclusively through NEXA dealerships, while the car commands a waiting period of 4 to 8 weeks depending upon the variants. Interestingly though, while the car is offered in both manual and AMT transmission options, both variants deliver similar mileage figures for the respective power-train options. The petrol version delivers a fuel economy of 20.89 kmpl while the diesel variant delivers 26.80 kmpl. Also, the petrol variant of the Ignis is slightly underpowered as compared to the Maruti Swift, even though they share the same engine. Also Read: Maruti Suzuki Ignis launched; price in India starts at INR 4.59 lakh
The Maruti Suzuki Ignis has been confirmed to get two engines. The first is a 1.2-litre VVT petrol engine that delivers 81.8 bhp of power at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. In comparison, the Maruti Suzuki Swift gets a similar VVT K-series engine that delivers 83 bhp of power at 6,000 rpm and 115 Nm of torque at a slightly lower 4,000 rpm. This means that the Swift has a slightly more punchy and powerful motor than the Ignis, which also has a slightly larger wheelbase than the swift at 2,435 mm, as compared to the Swift s 2,430 mm. Meanwhile, the Ignis also gets a 1.3-litre DDiS four-cylinder diesel engine delivering 74 bhp of power at 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. That is the same state of tune as the diesel engine on the Maruti Suzuki Swift. Also Read: Maruti Suzuki Ignis bookings open online in India for INR 11,000
