Maruti Suzuki Launches Country's Most Affordable Diesel Hybrid Ciaz SHVS at INR 8.23 Lakh
Maruti Suzuki India, country’s largest automaker today launched the all new Ciaz Smart Hybrid in India. Priced at INR 8.23 – 10.17 lakh, the new smart Ciaz is not only Maruti’s first hybrid to go on sale in India by also the country’s first mild diesel hybrid sedan. Apart for the new technology the most striking features of the car is its attractive price range that has now made hybrid cars more accessible to India car buyers.
The new Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Smart Hybrid will join the current hybrid league in India, which includes the Mahindra Reva e2o, Toyota Camry Hybrid, Toyota Prius, Mahindra Scorpio Micro Hybrid and BMW i8. While it is true that the Mahindra Reva e2o is the most affordable smart car, priced at INR 5.96 – 7.19 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), it is technically an electric car, making the new Ciaz Smart Hybrid the most affordable hybrid car in India.
As for its other competitors, the list is topped by none other than the plug-in hypercar BMW i8 priced at 2.29 crore, followed by the Toyota Prius priced at INR 38.10 – 39. 80 lakh, than the Toyota Camry Hybrid priced at INR 31.19 lakh and finally the Mahindra Scorpio Micro Hybrid priced at INR 8.70 – 12.34 lakh. Comparatively, the new Ciaz smart hybrid offers you much better comfort and features than the Mahindra Reva e2o, it is more of a true hybrid car than the Scorpio’s micro hybrid engine and much more affordable than most of the true blue hybrids in the India.
Coming to the car at question here, the Ciaz Smart Hybrid is powered by the same 1.3-lite multijest oil burner paired with the company’s new SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) technology. The engine produces 89.7 PS of power and 200 Nm of peak torque, while paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The car also comes with the company’s new regenerative breaking system and start/stop technology, which enable the car to offer a class leading mileage of 28.09 kmpl.
