Based on the SX4 hatchback that never comes to India, the S-Cross will see cosmetic upgrades to both styling and mechanics before entering into our market. Initially, the S-Cross will be offered in two diesel engine options- a 1.3-litre multi-jet and 1.6-litre multi-jet. While the former is good for 89bhp of power and 200Nm of peak torque, the later produces 118bhp of power and 320Nm of torque.
The 1.3-litre motor is paired to a five-speed manual gearbox, while the powerful motor is coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox. Dimensionally, the S-Cross measures 4,300mm in length, 1,765mm in width, 1,575mm in height, and 2,600mm in wheelbase. The international spec model comes with 170mm of ground clearance, but we expect that India-spec model will get about 180-200mm of ground clearance. On safety front, the Crossover gets ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution System), Driver and co-driver airbags, central locking, hill assist and engine start-stop button.
The S-Cross will directly rival against the likes of the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Mahindra XUV500. It is expected to be priced in the range of INR 8 lakh to INR 12 lakh.
