Maruti Suzuki S-Cross launch in first week of July, 2015; specs & features

Maruti Suzuki S-Cross crossover is reportedly to be launched in the Indian car market in the first week of July, 2015. The crossover will be offered in two diesel engine options- a 1.3-litre multi-jet and a 1.6-litre multi-jet.

Maruti Suzuki, India's largest carmaker is very aggressive with its product strategy for the Indian car market. After launching the country's most fuel efficient car- the Celerio diesel, the company is all set to introduce the much-awaited S-Cross crossover in India. According to Overdrive India, the vehicle will go on sale in the first week of July, 2015. Adding to it, the crossover will soon be put on display at Maruti's dealerships in India for customer preview.

Dimensionally, the S-Cross is 4,300mm long, 1,765mm wide and 1,580mm tall. The global-spec model is available with a ground clearance of 170mm; however, the India-spec model could get a ground clearance of about 180-200mm. The vehicle comes with a large boot space of 430-litres, which is more than sufficient to carry your weekend bags. The cargo volume can be further increased to 1,269-litres by folding the rear seats.

The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is expected to be made available with three engine options- 1.3-litre multijet diesel, 1.6-litre multijet diesel and 1.4-litre K-Series petrol. The 1.3-litre diesel unit is good for 91bhp and 200Nm while the powerful 1.6-litre unit develops 118bhp and 320Nm. The petrol engine that also powers the Ertiga is capable of producing 94bhp and 130Nm. A five-speed manual gearbox will come as standard, while the 1.6L diesel engine will be paired to a six-speed manual gearbox. The range-topping model will be equipped with good safety and security features including ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution), dual airbags, Engine immobilizer and Hill assist.
