Maruti Suzuki has been the busiest carmaker in 2017. The company has already launched the Maruti Ignis compact crossover in India, while the company will soon launch the Baleno RS on 3rd March 2017. Maruti Suzuki also has plans to launch the new generation Maruti Swift 2017 in India, sometime in the second half of this year. Media reports from AutoCar India suggest that the 2017 Swift will come equipped with the same petrol and diesel engine options that are available on the current generation Swift. The Japan-spec Suzuki Swift 2017 was launched in Japan on 27th December 2016, while the international spec variant is scheduled to be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show 2017. The new Swift is based on the all-new lightweight HEARTECT platform, which offers better rigidity and improved performance. In terms of dimensions, the new Swift measures at 3,840 mm in length, 1,525 mm in height and 1,695 mm in width, while the car has a wheelbase of 2,450 mm. Maruti Suzuki Swift Interiors
While unconfirmed, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift will be powered by the same set of petrol and diesel engines under the hood. The petrol variant will get the 1.2-litre K-series unit that produces 84 BHP of power and 114 Nm of peak torque. The oil burner is propelled by a 1.3-litre DDiS four-pot diesel mill that produces 74 BHP of power and 190 Nm of peak torque. Both the engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, while Maruti Suzuki might also offer an AMT gearbox as an option. 2017 Suzuki Swift RS
The new 2017 Suzuki Swift has undergone a complete overhaul in terms of exterior & interior design and features. Speaking of which, the new hatchback gets LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights, new front fascia, new grille, 16-inch alloy wheels and LED taillights to name a few. Features list on the new Swift will include touch-screen infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, GPS navigation, automatic climate control, adaptive cruise control and multiple airbags among others.
