New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki has launched its much-anticipated MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) car in India. Called the XL6, the car will have a price range of Rs 9.79 lakh-11.46 lakh.
This latest offering from the New Delhi-headquartered carmaker is modelled on the Ertiga MPV, unlike the latter, will be sold via the company’s Nexa chain of dealerships. It will also be the company’s second cross-over model after the S-6. It will come with a 2+2+2 layout, i.e besides the two front seats, it will have the captain seats in the middle and a two-seater bench at the back.
Further, it will have a fully redesigned front end, a development which is in line with the company’s European design language. As part of this front end, the grille will be a hexagonal unit with the Suzuki logo at the centre. The rear also has the same large, sweptback LED tail-lamps as the Ertiga; however, unlike the Ertiga, the XL6’s rear has some black inserts which give the car a sporty look. Further, the rear bumper, too, is new and gets a silver skid plate.
The interiors are all black, having premium stone finish and rich silver accents across the cabin. The steering wheel, meanwhile, comes with easy access controls and cruise control. There is ample of utility space available and the car also comes with ventilated cup holders, overhead console and accessory sockets in each row along with rear AC vents.
The new Maruti Suzuki XL6 will be powered by the existing BS6 compliant 1.5 lire K15 petrol engine; this facility is there in Ertiga too as the same was introduced recently. The petrol engine, meanwhile, is equipped with the company’s SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) mild-hybrid technology and is further equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox and an optional 4-speed automatic torque converter.
In terms of entertainment, it will have a SmartPlay Studio infotainment system with smartphone connectivity. On the safety front, it will have dual front airbags, the anti-lock braking system (ABS), front seat belts with Pre-tensioners and Force Limiters, high-speed warning alert, reverse parking sensors etc.
