The vehicle snapped was the left-hand drive model, indicating that the hatchback is an export-spec model. Upfront is a V-shaped honeycomb grille with chrome strip running along its lower edge, which is flanked by sweptback headlamps. It features a wide air dam and round-shaped fog lamps. The side profile looks elegant with strong beltline running across the length. The wing mirrors with integrated turn indicators are mounted on its front doors. At the back, the lower bumper gets number plate and indicators while the rear windscreen gets wiper. The flared wheel arches have been fitted to multi-spoke alloy wheels, while the door handles gets chrome treatment. It also features roof-mounted spoiler and an antenna.
The cabin of the YRA features black interiors with silver accents. Feature list including multi-functional steering wheel with controls for audio, telephony and cruise controls, a touchscreen infotainment system with vertical AC vents on either sides, climate control, airbag deactivation switch, a dead pedal and a twin-pot instrument cluster with an MID and analogue temperature gauge.
Also visible are black fabric upholstery, a manual day/night mirror and a central armrest in the front. The door handles are finished in chrome, while the rear passengers get power socket. Surprisingly, the hatchback misses out on rear AC vents.
The YRA spied features a 5-speed manual gearbox, but we believe that the company would also introduce the automatic version of the hatch. The vehicle is likely to be offered in three engine options- 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol, 1.2-litre K-Series and a 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced MJD diesel.
The Maruti YRA premium hatchback is expected to be priced in the range of INR 5.5 lakh to INR 8 lakh. It will compete against the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo and New Honda Jazz.
