According to the reports the maintenance work will be carried out for four days between 10AM to 5PM. During the said hours traffic will likely be directed through the old Pune road, which is likely take much more time for commuters to reach Pune or Mumbai or Pune.
The landslide that occurred on this Sunday resulted in the death of three individual while injuring few others. While two of the casualties were a result of the landslide the third one was a Good Samaritan who came to help the victims but in the process was hit by a speeding car and was killed.
The other two who died in the accident were 55-year-old Dilip Patel and 50-year-old Shashikant Dhamankar. The five members of the Patel family were headed towards Pune in a Skoda, while three members of the Dhamankar family were travelling in an Indigo Manza to Mumbai. This is when huge boulders fell from the periphery along the Mumbai lane and also rolled over to the Pune carriageway.
The mishap occurred at the mouth of the Adoshi tunnel near Khopoli bringing the heavy vehicular traffic to a grinding halt. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government announced compensation of INR 4 lakh each to the kin of the deceased.
