Toyota Kirloskar India is all set to launch the facelifted Corolla Altis 2017 in the country today. Expected to receive cosmetic updates and convenience features, the company has also updated its official website with the new model. Based on the Toyota s new Under Priority and Keen Look design language, the facelifted Corolla Altis will be offered in four trim levels in both manual and automatic versions – J, G, GL and VL. Design: As far as the design is concerned, the new Toyota Corolla Altis will be based on new design language which will be complemented by revised front grille, LED headlamps, LED front fog lamps, 16 or 17-inch alloy wheels based on the variant. The rear end profile of the car will get a LED tail lamp setup with improved suspension.
Safety: As far as the safety aspect is concerned, the new Corolla Altis is expected to sport dual SRS airbags, Anti-lock braking system with Electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, vehicle stability control and rear camera with display. Moreover, the facelifted sedan frame is developed from Global Outstanding Assessment which consists of the impact absorbing body structure as well as high integrity cabin at the time of collision.
Features: Feature-wise, the new 2017 Toyota Corolla Altis will bag major update on the inside which will include Smart Entry with push start & stop, cruise control, rear power socket, rain sensing wipers and audio and steering controls, rear reading lamp & rear sun shade and 8-way power driver seat with lumbar support. It will also be equipped with an upgraded 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay as well as T-connect navigation system. Engine: Under the skin, the new Toyota Corolla Altis will be powered by the same engine options as seen on the current generation. The petrol unit will be equipped with a 1.8-litre petrol engine which can easily produce 138hp of max power with 173Nm of torque whereas the diesel variant will get a 1.4-litre oil burner that can generate 87hp of max power with 205Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine is offered with a choice of 6-speed manual and a CVT gearbox while the diesel engine comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard.
Price & Competition: Expected to be more premium than the current generation Corolla Altis, we expect the facelift to be priced around INR 15 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the new Corolla Altis will take on the rivals such as Hyundai Elantra, Skoda Octavia and Chevrolet Cruze in the same segment.
