Owners of certain 2012 Mercedes-Benz B-Class in China will need to make an uncalled for trip to the service station soon, as the German luxury carmaker has just announced a recall due to faulty fuel tank vent valves.
A total of 1,525 B180 and B200 B-Class models produced between Feb 28 and Oct 8, 2012 are the affected lot. According to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine or AQSIQ, there are chances of the vent valves loosening up if the fuel tank is brimmed with E15 fuel, which contains 15 per cent ethanol. In such case, the fuel leakage via vent valves could trigger a potential danger.
The recall process will begin on December 26, where Mercedes-Benz dealers will replace the fuel tank of the affected models if needed.
