Volkswagen India at its Annual Brand Conference 2024, unveiled a slew of new product offerings for the Indian market. Reinvigorating its product line-up, the Brand showcased two new variants, Taigun GT Plus Sport and Taigun GT Line. for Taigun, while also announcing a refreshed line structure for the SUV. Paving the way for the Brand’s new leap towards electrification, Volkswagen India showcased the ID.4. Volkswagen Taigun will now be offered to customers in three trim plans: ‘GT Edge’, ‘Chrome’ and ‘Sport’. The company said that the refreshed line structure has been developed to present customers with unique design personas of each line, catering to the visual differentiation and appeal of each trim.
GT Edge variants will offer the coveted Edge Collection to customers including both Matte and Black exterior colour options. Under the ‘Chrome’ line, customers have an option to choose from both engine options – 1.5l TSI EVO (7-speed DSG & 6-speed manual transmission) and 1.0l TSI (6- speed automatic transmission & 6-speed manual transmission). While the new ‘Sport’ line has a new visually distinct ‘dark styled’ identity will be offered to customers in the GT Plus Sport variant with the 1.5l TSI EVO (7-speed DSG & 6-speed manual transmission) powertrain and the GT Line variant with the 1.0l TSI (6-speed automatic transmission & 6-speed manual transmission) powertrain options.


Taking a step further, Volkswagen India democratized the GT badge by announcing the new GT Line with the Taigun 1.0l TSI engine (6-speed automatic and manual transmission). Making sporty styled aesthetics more accessible to customers and catering to the aspirations of those seeking the fabled GT badge. Ensuring customer enhanced customer confidence above the 5-Star GNCAP safety ratings, the Taigun GT Line will be offered with 6-Airbags as standard fitment. The Taigun GT Line will be available to customers with ‘Black Themed’ aesthetic enhancements across all colour options.
In addition to the Taigun variants, Volkswagen unveiled the concept version of the GT Plus Virtus, hinting at future innovations in its lineup. The brand also outlined ambitious plans to expand its dealership and service network, aiming to increase sales dealerships from 193 to 230 by the end of 2024. Furthermore, Volkswagen intends to extend its presence to 25 more cities, totaling 170 cities nationwide, by the close of the year.
