Now with the addition of Range Rover Evoque it is the fourth vehicle under the brand to be locally assembled in their Pune facility, after the Freelander 2, Jaguar XF and XJ. Apparently local assembly is quite a beneficial decision considering the fact that it not only enables faster deliveries and better services but also with the reduced price point the SUV becomes accessible to a wider set of customers.
Coming to the SUV itself, the locally-manufactured Range Rover Evoque features a 2.2 Litre SD4 Diesel engine. Common among all three variants, the engine churns out 190 PS of peek power @ 3,500 rpm and 420 Nm of peek torque @ 2,000 rpm, while mated to a class-leading automatic transmission. Other features that come as a standard fitment across all variants are Front and Rear Parking sensors with Rear View Camera, Navigation System, Fixed Panoramic Sunroof and Land Rover’s state of the art Terrain Response System.
Speaking at the launch Rohit Suri, President of Jaguar Land Rover India, said, “We believe that India is a market that offers significant opportunities for both the Jaguar and Land Rover brands. I am pleased to announce the broadening of our locally manufactured portfolio, with the introduction of the Range Rover Evoque. It is already very popular with Indian customers and we will now offer this SUV at an even more competitive price point.”

Furthermore he added, “This will enable us to access a wider audience which consists of discerning and premium Indian customers who have always loved the brand, aspired to own this SUV and be seen in it. Our investment in the Pune facility demonstrates our continued long-term commitment to the Indian market.”
Since its inauguration in 2011, JLR’s Pune facility has tripled its production in India. And considering the recent developments it is quite clear that the company is not only looking at sales growth in the local market, but also plans to expand its manufacturing footprint globally, increasing its production capacity outside of the UK.
