Renault Captur crossover officially revealed

Just a couple of days after releasing the first teaser image, Renault has officially revealed the Captur crossover. This latest entrant into the relatively new crossover segment will make its debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

The Captur’s striking design is typical of Renault styling, and rounds off a complete package that offers up both the ruggedness of an SUV and the compact nature of a hatchback. In terms of size, the Captur sits between the Renault Clio and the company’s premium hatchback offering, the Megane.

The Captur Crossover is based on a modified version of the Renault-Nissan alliance's modular B-Platform, which also underpins the Nissan Juke. Under the hood, it is likely to come fitted with the Clio’s engine range, including the new 0.9-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit and 1.5-litre turbodiesel, both producing 90PS of power. Also, bigger 110PS 1.6 petrol and 110PS turbodiesel engines from the Megane could also be on the cards.

When launched, the Renault Captur Crossover will go up against the recently unveiled Peugeot 2008 Crossover.
