With the increasing demand for SUVs in the domestic market, Renault, a French automaker officially announced that the company will launch the much awaited Renault Captur crossover in India. Expected to hit the market during the festive season, the new upcoming crossover will reflect French automaker’s ambitions to expand its presence in the country. The car maker also announced that the company has crossed a milestone of 300 dealership outlets in the country making it one of the fastest network in the Indian automotive industry. Mr. Sumit Sawhney, Country CEO and Managing Director, Renault India Operations, said, India is an important market for Renaults global growth plans and we have a thorough business strategy to grow our presence across the country. The SUV segment, which is amongst the fastest growing segments in the Indian automobile industry, has witnessed increasing customer attention to styling and design elements which are playing an important role in the purchase decision.
Renault India has already started testing the Crossover on Indian roads which has been spied manytimes in the past. The premium compact Crossover made its world premiere last year which is one of the highest selling crossovers in the European market. The upcoming Captur premium SUV will sport strong crossover DNA which will play an essential role for driving volumes for the car maker specially in the emerging segments. As the demand for the SUVs, Crossovers and the likes is increasing day by day, the SUV segment will witness strong pull from the Indian market. The company hasn’t revealed the exact date for the arrival of Renault Captur which is expected to be revealed soon. As the company aims to emerge in the top 5 auto manufacturers in the domestic market by the year 2020, the car maker has aggressive plan for the upcoming Captur Crossover. CAPTUR has sold over a million cars worldwide and will enhance our product portfolio as we aim to grow our presence in the SUV segment in India. Like all our offerings in India, there will high levels of innovation and customisation in the Renault CAPTUR that will be launched in India, to best suite the Indian customers.”

The India-spec Renault Captur is expected to remain same as that of Duster SUV which comes equipped with 1.5 liter diesel engine that is offered two states of tune – 85 PS and 110PS. Once launched, the new Renault Captur will be pitted against the likes of Hyundai Creta and other compact SUVs. The Captur premium Crossover is likely to be priced in the range of INR 8 lakh – INR 14 lakh (ex-showroom).
