Tata Bolt Hatchback: Tata Motors sees higher consumer demand for Bolt XMS variant

Ever since its launch in the Indian market Tata Bolt has been subject to growing consumer popularity. The premium hatchback comes with two engine options and in four different variants, namely XE, XM, XMS and the top-end model XT. And one of the highly popular variant ever since its launch has been the second-top variant Bolt XMS. Tata Motors is offering the Bolt XMS at INR 5.4 lakh for the petrol variant and INR 6.3 lakh for the diesel version (Both ex-showroom Delhi).

Another interesting scenario has been the growing demand for Tata’s Revotron petrol engine used in its compact sedan Zest and hatchback Bolt. Reports indicate that buyers have been opting for the petrol version instead of the diesel variant, which is apparently what Tata wanted to achieve. This has helped the company to break consumer’s perception of seeing Tata Motors as a company that is predominantly known for its diesel cars.

Such reactions from Indian buyers might seem new but aren’t very surprising. We say that mainly because of few key aspects. For starters petrol engines are known to offer better performance and are much more enduring than a diesel oil burner. And with the ever diminishing gap between the prices of petrol fuel and diesel fuel, opting for a petrol variant is quite a wise option. Moreover Tata has offered some first-in-class features such as the Multi-Drive switches that let you choose between various driving modes, namely City, Eco and Sport. Finally it is quite evident that the petrol variants are cheaper to buy than their diesel equivalents and with a mileage of 17.6 kmpl that doesn’t seem to be a bad decision.

Surely by opting for the second-top variant Bolt XMS you do miss out on some premium features like automatic climate-control, Harman touchscreen infotainment system, projector headlamps and those 15-inch alloys. Having said that, other important features that you do get in the XMS variant are, dual-front airbags, Anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and also Tata’s new Corner Stability Control (CSC) as standard offerings. Additionally you also get front seat belts with load limiters and pretensioners.

So ultimately if you ask us if it is a wise choice to go for the Bolt XMS variant, than yes the Bolt XMS petrol is a right choice for those who do not want to spend too much on a hatchback car but would also like to enjoy some of the best comforts offered in the segment.
