The year 2017 seems to have started on optimistic note for majority of car makers as they have witnessed a positive growth for the month of January. According to the industry data, all the vehicles in the top ten selling passenger cars list have recorded an affirmative growth. Going by the data, majority of the cars have registered double digit growth except Alto, Swift and Elite i20. Maruti Suzuki India managed to bag first four positions of bestselling cars for the month of January 2017. With Maruti Alto topping the chart with 22,998 units, the hatchback registered a growth of 7 percent against 21,462 units during the same month last year. Following Alto, Maruti Dzire stood at number two slot with 18,088 units registering a growth of 29 percent for the month of January 2017 against 14,042 units. Maruti WagonR, another popular offering from Indo-Japanese car maker climbed the ladder as the company retailed 14,930 units registering a growth of 17 percent. Positioned at fourth, Maruti Swift s sale increased by 3 percent with 14,545 units as the company retailed 14,057 units for the same period last year. Top 10 best selling cars Jan 2017
Hyundai s popular offering Grand i10 managed to maintain its fifth position with 31 percent as compared to same month last year. The sixth slot was occupied by Celerio which managed to outsell Baleno after nine months with 10,879 units registering 52 percent increase for the same month in the previous year.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno bagged the seventh position with a growth of 36 percent with 10,479 units. The Eighth and ninth positions were occupied by Hyundai Elite i20 and Renault Kwid with 10,010 units and 6,924 units with a growth of 4 percent and 16 percent respectively.
Moreover, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz entered the top 10 bestselling cars list after three months wherein the company retailed 6,530 units with a growth of 20 percent as compared to same month previous year.
