After sending the prototype version of the upcoming 918 Spyder hybrid to put in a few hot laps round the Nurburgring, Porsche has given its flagship coupe, the 911 Carrera S a bit of a workout at the legendary 14-mile long racetrack and boy has it lived up to its name!
Driven by racing driver Timo Kluck, the 911 Carrera S has gone round the Nurburgring in just 7:37.9 minutes, beating the likes of Nissan GT-R, Ferrari 458 Italia and a few other super quick exotics. To put that into perspective, Porsche’s former hypercar – the Carrera GT (which made over 600PS of power courtesy of the achingly loud V10 engine) lapped the ‘Ring in about 7:32 mins.

The 911 Carrera S on the other hand is powered by a 3.8-liter flat-six engine, producing around 395PS of power. With a 0 to 100kph time of 4.2 seconds and a top speed close to 300kph, the Carrera S is anything but slow.
