Yamaha Motor India has been testing a new automatic scooter these days. The image of a test mule has emerged on the internet, which is undergoing final runs somewhere in Chennai. The upcoming scooter is completely uncamouflaged and by the looks of it, one can easily figure out that it is none other than Yamaha Nozza Grande. The said scooter resembles the company’s popular Fascino scooter in terms of the design language as it flaunts a pure retro appeal. Yamaha currently sells the Nozza Grande in the Vietnamese market. Internationally, this scooter gets its power from a 125cc engine that comes further assisted with fuel injection technology for a smoother operation and enhanced performance. However, the India spec model might ditch the Fi system and come equipped with a carburetor in order to keep the costs down. Expect the peppy motor to develop respective power and torque figures close to 8 bhp and 9 Nm. Also, there is a possibility that the new Yamaha Nozza Grande might come fitted with the company’s 113cc Blue Core enabled engine that runs its existing range of scooters. The upcoming Yamaha Nozza Grande comes integrated with an analog digital instrument cluster that has a classic appeal attached to it in order to suit the overall character. Just like the Fascino, the aforementioned scooter also receives chrome finished rear view mirrors that further add up to the retro touch. The braking duties on the upcoming Yamaha Nozza Grande will be handled by a disc brake up front along with a drum brake at the rear. Suspension system comprises of telescopic forks at the front along with twin spring shock absorbers at the rear. Also Read: New Upcoming Yamaha Bikes to be launched in 2017-18

Added features of the Yamaha Nozza Grande include LED tail lamp, generous under seat storage with boot light, Daytime running lights (DRLs) and an external front fuel filling port. The retro themed automatic scooters have been doing decent job for respective manufacturers, especially since last few months. The best example is of the Yamaha Fascino that is currently the best selling scooter by the company, all thanks to its nostalgic design language. Needless to say, the company must be hoping for equally good sales numbers with the Yamaha Nozza Grande due to the success of the Fascino.

Once launched, the Yamaha Nozza Grande will hopefully be priced a little over INR 60,000 (ex-showroom) and will compete with the likes of Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Access 125 and the upcoming Aprilia SR 125 Motard in the Indian two-wheeler market.
