England

Batting R B 4s 6s SR
Phil Salt c Dushan Hemantha b Dunith Wellalage 62 40 6 2 155
14.2
Dunith Wellalage to Phil Salt, OUT! TAKEN! A tired shot from Phil Salt, and this is a real soft dismissal. Dunith Wellalage drags the length back and this is slower through the air, outside off. Salt hangs back in the crease and is nowhere near the pitch of the ball but he still swings through the line to go over long off. Hits it straight down the throat of long off, where Dushan Hemantha makes no mistake. Third wicket for Dunith. End of a fighting knock from Salt. The 100 is up for England.
Jos Buttler (W) lbw b Dunith Wellalage 7 14 0 0 50
3.1
Dunith Wellalage to Jos Buttler, OUT! PLUMB IN FRONT! Jos Buttler has been put out of his misery. Angled in from around the wicket, fractionally short, on middle. Buttler switches his stance and goes for the reverse. He misses it completely and gets hit on the pads right in front of the stumps. Sri Lanka go up in unison and the finger is raised. Jos has a word with his partner, but the timer runs out before he can make a decision. It would have been a waste of a review had he taken it. The Ball Tracking has the ball crashing into the middle stump.
Jacob Bethell c Dilshan Madushanka b Maheesh Theekshana 3 4 0 0 75
5.1
Maheesh Theekshana to Jacob Bethell, OUT! CAUGHT! Has Dilshan Madushanka managed to cling on? Indeed, he has and Maheesh Theekshana strikes on his very first delivery. Theekshana starts around the wicket and drifts the ball full and into the left-hander. Jacob Bethell sits down to slog sweep but miscues it badly. The ball goes off the outside edge and lobs to the right of short third. Madushanka puts in a horizontal dive and pouches it with both hands. The ball nearly bobbles out when the elbows hit the turf but Madushanka clings onto it with his right hand.
Tom Banton run out (Dasun Shanaka) 6 7 0 0 85.71
7.5
Dushmantha Chameera to Tom Banton, OUT! TOM BANTON IS RUN OUT! Not at all what England needed right now, but Banton has to walk back here. Dushmantha Chameera bowls it full and nails it at the base of the off stump. Banton jams it into the turf and towards mid off and the batters set off for the single. Dasun Shanaka attacks the ball well and gets a favourable bounce. He has three stumps to aim at and hits the bullseye at the bowler's end. Banton puts in the dive but fails to make his ground, and it is another slim outing for him.
Harry Brook (C) lbw b Dunith Wellalage 14 7 1 0 200
9.6
Dunith Wellalage to Harry Brook, OUT! LBW! Huge appeal for LBW and up goes the finger. Harry Brook has sent it upstairs, though. Clear gap between bat and ball. Ball Tracking shows it is the umpire's call with the ball clipping the leg stump. Harry has a wry smile as he makes the long walk. Onto the delivery - Dunith nicely tosses it up, on a fuller length and on middle, Harry Brook bends forward to defend but misses the arm ball and wears it on the front pad, past his inside edge. The only chance for Brook to survive was if the ball was going down on the angle. His stay is cut short. No fireworks by the birthday boy.
Sam Curran c Kamil Mishara b Dushmantha Chameera 11 11 0 1 100
13.2
Dushmantha Chameera to Sam Curran, OUT! CAUGHT! Sam Curran holes out. Immediate impact from Dushmantha Chameera on his return to the attack. The pace off delivery works for Chameera. He serves the leg-cutter, fuller and on off. Curran puts his head down and swings through the line to go back over the bowler's head. The bat turns in his hands and he does not get any power on the shot. Gets it only as far as long on, where Kamil Mishara takes a couple of steps back and gobbles it up in front of the boundary cushions. The 26-run stand has been broken.
Will Jacks c Dunith Wellalage b Dilshan Madushanka 21 14 4 0 150
18.5
Dilshan Madushanka to Will Jacks, OUT! CAUGHT! Dilshan Madushanka does have the last laugh here. Madushanka misses the wide yorker by an even bigger margin and ends up bowling a low full toss. Will Jacks jumps down the track this time and throws his hands at it. However, his body seems to be falling over and he ends up slicing it towards deep point. Dunith Wellalage makes no error in the deep and England might struggle to get over 150 now.
Liam Dawson c Dasun Shanaka b Maheesh Theekshana 6 11 0 0 54.55
17.1
Maheesh Theekshana to Liam Dawson, OUT! CAUGHT! Liam Dawson was going nowhere with that charge down the pitch. Dawson premeditates and comes down the pitch, allowing Maheesh Theekshana to pull his length back. This is the flicker bowled from the front of the hand and it goes away after pitching. Dawson has a hoick across the line but slices it up over covers, where Dasun Shanaka takes a few steps back to his left and pouches it comfortably.
Jamie Overton not out 10 10 0 1 100
Jofra Archer c Dushan Hemantha b Dilshan Madushanka 0 1 0 0 0
18.6
Dilshan Madushanka to Jofra Archer, OUT! TAKEN! Another full toss but once again, an English batter finds the fielder. Dilshan Madushanka goes full and wide but ends up serving another full toss. Jofra Archer looks to smack it away but miscues it wide of mid off. Dushan Hemantha scampers to his left and pouches it brilliantly with a dive.
Adil Rashid not out 1 1 0 0 100

Sri Lanka

Batting R B 4s 6s SR
Pathum Nissanka c Jamie Overton b Jofra Archer 9 8 2 0 112.5
2.4
Jofra Archer to Pathum Nissanka, OUT! CAUGHT! Jamie Overton went back on the fence just before this ball, and Pathum Nissanka has picked him out. Archer serves a full ball, outside the line of the off stump. Nissanka was better off going through the off side but he opted to whip it away on the leg side. He has to drag it from outside off and he fails to get any power on the shot. Overton is looking into the sun but he moves to his left in the deep and takes a safe catch over his head. A big wicket for England.
Kamil Mishara c Jamie Overton b Jofra Archer 6 11 1 0 54.55
4.5
Jofra Archer to Kamil Mishara, OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Sri Lanka four down in a flash. Archer keeps it simple as he attacks the stumps with a length delivery. Kamil Mishara looks to force it away on the off side but gets a thick outside edge which flies to gully. The ball dips towards Jamie Overton, but he does well to get his fingers underneath. Lanka lose their top order inside the Powerplay.
Kusal Mendis (W) c & b Will Jacks 4 4 1 0 100
3.3
Will Jacks to Kusal Mendis, OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! The move to give Will Jacks the new ball has worked. The crowd have been silenced. Jacks pushes it through, full and on middle. Kusal steps out and looks to clip it away on the leg side with a closed bat face. The ball comes on slower than he anticipated. Mendis ends up closing the bat face early, and the ball pops back towards the bowler off a leading edge. The replays show that Jacks was starting to move towards his right after seeing Mendis close the bat face before stopping and accepting the catch around his left knee.
Pavan Rathnayake c Tom Banton b Will Jacks 0 1 0 0 0
3.4
Will Jacks to Pavan Rathnayake, OUT! IN THE AIR AND GONE! Oh, dear! Pavan Rathnayake gives the bowler the charge on the very first ball, but it goes horribly wrong for him. Two in two for Will Jacks, and the start gets even better for England. Full and around the off stump, Rathnayake jumps out of the crease and fights the angle as he swings to go down the ground to a ball leaving him. Slices it off the outer half over cover, where Tom Banton runs over his left shoulder and takes the catch. Jacks is on a hat-trick.
Dunith Wellalage c Harry Brook b Will Jacks 10 10 2 0 100
5.5
Will Jacks to Dunith Wellalage, OUT! TAKEN! Half of the side perishes. What are we seeing here? Wellalage tries to show intent, but he has to go back. Simple stuff from England here. Jacks loops up a fuller delivery on middle, Wellalage comes down the track to launch it over mid on but the bat turns in his hands. The ball takes the inner part of the blade and flies to mid on, where Harry Brook takes a couple of steps back and gobbles it up.
Kamindu Mendis c & b Liam Dawson 13 11 1 1 118.18
8.4
Liam Dawson to Kamindu Mendis, OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! Another soft dismissal. Disbelief on the face of Kamindu Mendis. Liam Dawson pushes the length up and tosses this one up, on middle. Kamindu tries to flick it away on the leg side by closing the bat face. The ball holds in the surface and a leading edge is found. The ball balloons back to Dawson and he accepts the dolly.
Dasun Shanaka (C) c Tom Banton b Adil Rashid 30 24 1 2 125
14.2
Adil Rashid to Dasun Shanaka, OUT! TAKEN! That is a sensational piece of fielding and game awareness from Will Jacks and it is he who makes the difference for England yet again. Adil Rashid drags the length short and bowls it flatter on middle and off. Dasun Shanaka rocks back and looks to muscle the pull but ends up hitting it flat towards deep mid-wicket. Jacks is stationed there, moves to his left and takes a running catch but knows that he is going to go over the ropes. He has a look with the side eye and sees Tom Banton approaching towards him from widish long on and flicks it to him. Banton gobbles it up and this should be the final nail in the coffin for Sri Lanka.
Dushan Hemantha hit wicket b Jamie Overton 5 8 0 0 62.5
11.6
Jamie Overton to Dushan Hemantha, OUT! HIT WICKET! Oopsie. It's all going wrong for Sri Lanka. Overton bashes the surface and gets the ball to skid through. Hemantha swivels for the pull, but he is hurried, and the ball hits him on the waist before dribbling behind. One hand comes off the bat handle for Dushan, and he cannot control the follow-through of his bat swing. The bat ends up clipping the top of the stumps, and the bails come off.
Dushmantha Chameera b Liam Dawson 6 13 0 0 46.15
15.6
Liam Dawson to Dushmantha Chameera, OUT! TIMBER! England can see the finishing line now. Quicker one from Liam Dawson bowled flatter as well and attacking the stumps. Dushmantha Chameera charges down the track to slog but is beaten comprehensively. The ball turns a bit as well and castles into the stumps behind. Dawson ends up with figures of - 4-0-27-2.
Maheesh Theekshana not out 10 8 1 0 125
Dilshan Madushanka b Adil Rashid 0 2 0 0 0
16.4
Adil Rashid to Dilshan Madushanka, OUT! TIMBER! Adil Rashid picks the final wicket. Rashid pushes the loopy delivery, outside off, the googly and it goes past Madushanka's wild drive away from his body. Might have picked the inside edge as the ball ricochets onto the stumps. ENGLAND WIN BY 51 RUNS.
