Keshara Nuwantha tries to get across to his right and stop it but misses, instead taking down Jaiswal, who was also setting off for a run. Meanwhile, Rahul has already approached the other end to complete the run, and Jaiswal, after recovering from his fall, looks to first run before realising it is all too late. He attempts to turn, but Rahul has already dragged his bat inside the crease at the bowling end. Jaiswal decides to stand there and watch the keeper, Niroshan Dickwella, who collects the throw from Prabath Jayasuriya, then looks at his skipper, Dhananjaya de Silva, at first slip before taking the bails off. That old grey area of sportsmanship, but it seems Dhananjaya has decided to go with the rule rather than the spirit. The umpires also double-check with the Sri Lankan captain, who sticks with his decision, and Jaiswal has to walk back in what can only be described as a contentious dismissal. India are 47/1 now.

KL Rahul moves back to flick but gets a bit surprised by the spin and almost tries not to play the shot. However, he is too late as the ball takes the inside half of the bat and flies towards short leg, where Nishan Fernando shows excellent reflexes to take a sharp catch. Rahul fails to make much impact after coming back to bat after having had to retire hurt on Day 1.

Prabath Jayasuriya to Devdutt Padikkal, OUT! STUMPED! Prabath Jayasuriya gets rid of the centurion. Keeps it on a good length, on off. Padikkal premeditatedly charges down the track, but he is not to the pitch of the ball. He brings his bat out in front for the block but the ball does not turn and keeps straight. It sneaks past the outside edge before the keeper, Niroshan Dickwella gathers the ball to his left and whips the bails off. Padikkal did try to plonk his back leg back in but was at a point of no return. India are now 5 down for 357.

Prabath Jayasuriya to Shubman Gill, OUT! IN THE AIR AND GONE! Prabath Jayasuriya has a wicket at Galle after 45 overs, informs Roshan Abeysinghe. Would you believe it? For a man who has made Galle his happy hunting ground, that is quite the wait. Jayasuriya offers flight, on middle. Gill shimmies down the track and tries to launch it over mid off but the ball spins away and the Indian skipper slices it off the outer half. Skies it towards mid off, where Lahiru Udara settles under it by moving to his left and takes the catch close to his chest. India are now 236/2.

Keshara Nuwantha to Rishabh Pant, OUT! IN THE AIR...GONE! Keshara Nuwantha eventually gets his man and picks up his maiden Test wicket. He floats this one up, full and around off, turning it away. Rishabh Pant gives the charge again for the big shot but gets nowhere near the pitch of the ball. He still goes through with the shot, but the ball turns and bounces a bit more to take the outside half of the bat. It is skied wide of long off, where Sonal Dinusha runs a long way to his right and takes a fine sliding catch. Pant is not happy with himself but has to walk back here. India are now 307/3.

Prabath Jayasuriya to Dhruv Jurel, OUT! STUNNING CATCH! The Lankan skipper redeems himself with an absolute screamer. Prabath Jayasuriya gets his third wicket. He tosses it up, full and on middle and leg, gets it to grip and turn away. Dhruv Jurel looks to work it across the line but closes the bat face early. It takes the leading edge and lobs wide of first slip. Dhananjaya de Silva flings himself to his right and grabs it superbly with his outstretched right hand. Special take, this one. India are now 432/7.

Keshara Nuwantha to Ravindra Jadeja, OUT! LBW! Keshara Nuwantha has his third wicket now. He dishes out an arm ball, full and on middle, goes on with the arm but not too much. Ravindra Jadeja gets forward but once again makes the mistake of playing for the turn. The ball sneaks past the inside edge and hits him on the front pad. There is a massive shout for LBW, and up goes the finger. However, Jadeja takes a review here. UltraEdge confirms no bat involved, and Ball Tracking comes up as umpire's call, with the ball clipping the leg stump. The on-field call of Out stands. Jadeja throws his head back in disappointment, but he can do nothing about it. India are 377/6 now.

Prabath Jayasuriya to Manav Suthar, OUT! TAKEN! Manav Suthar's vigil comes to an end. Two in two for Sri Lanka. Flighted delivery, full and on middle. Suthar dances down the track and extends his hands into the lofted hit. He swings through the line of the ball but it goes only as far as long on. Lahiru Udara comes in off the ropes and bends to take a reverse cup around his chest. 4th wicket for Prabath Jayasuriya as he inches closer to yet another five-wicket haul here in Galle.

Asitha Fernando to Mohammed Siraj, OUT! CAUGHT! The change in length does the trick for Asitha Fernando. After being on the shorter side for most of the over, he slips in a full ball from around the wicket. Siraj hangs deep in the crease and backs away, exposing all three stumps. He looks to launch it over mid off but gets it right off the toe end of the blade. It is spooned to mid off, where Dhananjaya de Silva moves to his left and slides to complete the catch. India are now 447/8.

Asitha Fernando to Prasidh Krishna, OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Asitha wraps it up with two wickets to his name and INDIA HAVE BEEN BOWLED OUT FOR 462! He keeps slamming the deck hard, short and outside the leg stump. Krishna gets inside the line to try to play the pull shot but only manages to glove it behind to the keeper. Niroshan Dickwella takes a regulation catch. A polite appeal is all that is required for the umpire to raise his finger. It took the Lankans just four balls to get the job done.

Mohammed Siraj to Nishan Fernando, OUT! CAUGHT AT FIRST SLIP! Two balls into the Sri Lankan innings, and Siraj has already got the ball talking. He is on the money again as he lands it on a good length, and extracts a bit of bounce with the ball shaping away. Nishan Fernando is taken aback and dangles the bat away from his body at an angle. The ball takes the outside edge and Devdutt Padikkal takes a fine catch to his right at first slip. Sri Lanka are rocked early and are 0/1, trailing by 462 runs.

Manav Suthar to Lahiru Udara, OUT! CAUGHT! Wicket number 2 for Suthar as he keeps unleashing his magic. Offers Udara a little width outside off, not all that short and spinning away sharply. Lahiru goes after it, throws his bat to cut it away, but fails to keep it along the ground and slices the ball straight to Jaiswal at backward point who snaffles it with a reverse cup. Sri Lanka are under tremendous pressure now as they are reduced to 53/3, trailing by 409 runs.

Manav Suthar to Dinesh Chandimal, OUT! EDGED AND GONE! What a start for Manav Suthar. He strikes with his first ball and gets the prized scalp of the veteran Dinesh Chandimal. Tossed up, on off, drawing the batter forward. Chandimal lunges for the block but it lands and spins away with bounce. It grazes the shoulder of the bat and brushes the glove on the way through before Rishabh Pant takes a sharp grab to his right. Sri Lanka are 27/2, trailing by 435 runs.

Kuldeep Yadav to Kamindu Mendis, OUT! CAUGHT BY THE SKIPPER! A screamer from Shubman Gill. Catch of the match so far. Kuldeep bowls it a bit flat and full, around the off stump line. Kamindu Mendis comes dancing down the track and tries to drive it inside out through cover, but cannot keep it on the ground and chips it to the left of the cover fielder. The ball is dipping on Gill, but the captain flings himself into an acrobatic dive and stretches his left hand out to pluck the ball spectacularly, just inches above the ground. Kamindu Mendis stands shell-shocked. Sri Lanka have hit a wall and are 59/4, trailing by 403 runs.

Ravindra Jadeja to Dhananjaya de Silva, OUT! CAUGHT! Back on the field, and KL Rahul is straight into action. Dhananjaya's resistance comes to an end. Pushed through on a good length by Jadeja, on middle. De Silva looks to defend it with soft hands and under his eyes with the bat close to the front pad. The ball lands and straightens enough to catch the outside edge. It dips on Rahul, who is leaning to his right as the ball gets to him, but manages to get his hands under the ball to snaffle it cleanly. Sri Lanka are now 5 down for 90, trailing by 372 runs.

Ravindra Jadeja to Sonal Dinusha, OUT! LBW! That shot through, and Sonal Dinusha has been caught in front. He has reviewed it, though. Was there an inside edge? Turning back into the left-hander, on the shorter side, on off. Dinusha walks across to clip it away but the ball keeps low and he is beaten on the inside edge. There is a murmur on the UltraEdge when the ball is next to the bat but it is not conclusive enough to convince the third umpire that there is an edge. The Ball Tracking comes up as three reds with the ball crashing into the middle stump. Sonal walks off with a shake of the head, unhappy with himself. Maybe he felt there was a feather, but UltraEdge showed otherwise. Sri Lanka are 274/9, trailing by 188 runs.

Prasidh Krishna to Niroshan Dickwella, OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Prasidh Krishna strikes and, at long last, breaks a resilient partnership. Prasidh hammers it on a fractionally fuller length and gets a bit of lateral movement away from the batter, around the off stump, inviting the drive. Niroshan Dickwella gets on the front foot to block and pushes at it. Ends up getting a faint outside edge and Rishabh Pant takes a straightforward catch behind the stumps. The 146-run partnership is broken and once again, Niroshan Dickwella misses out on converting his brilliant start into a Test hundred. Sri Lanka are 236/6, trailing by 226 runs. The home side need 27 more runs to avoid the follow-on.

Ravindra Jadeja to Keshara Nuwantha, OUT! CAUGHT! An unfortunate way to get out. 350th Test wicket for Ravindra Jadeja. A milestone moment for the champion all-rounder. The length is dragged back by Jadeja, outside off, a hint of turn. Nuwantha extends his hands, collapses his back knee and tries to spank it through the off side. Yashasvi Jaiswal at silly point hops to avoid getting hit. It pings Jaiswal around the thigh before it pops up towards cover, where Shubman Gill runs over his right shoulder and gobbles it up. Sri Lanka are now 243/7, trailing by 219 runs and needing 20 more runs to avoid the follow-on.

Manav Suthar to Prabath Jayasuriya, OUT! IN THE AIR AND GONE! Number three for Suthar as Prabath runs out of patience. In front of the stumps, on a fuller length, spinning away with a bit of bounce off the pitch. Prabath Jayasuriya plants his back knee into the pitch and goes for the premeditated slog sweep. However, he gets a massive top edge and the ball bobbles up towards deep mid-wicket where Dhruv Jurel runs in off the ropes and takes a simple straightforward catch. Sri Lanka are 274/8, trailing by 188 runs.

Manav Suthar to Lahiru Kumara, OUT! STUMPED! Manav Suthar completes the mop-up job. India secure a 178-run lead as Manav finishes with four wickets. Sri Lanka have been bowled out for 284. Suthar switches to over the wicket and drags the length back, on off. Kumara gives the bowler the premeditated charge but is nowhere near the pitch of the ball. He still swings at it. The ball spins past the inside edge, and Kumara is at a point of no return as Rishabh Pant whips the bails off. 

Asitha Fernando to Yashasvi Jaiswal, OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Loose, too loose from Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Sri Lanka strike early. Asitha Fernando bowls this back of a length, darting it well across off, inviting the cut shot. Jaiswal rocks back and throws his hands at it, but there's no foot movement. The ball grazes the toe end before going low to the left of the keeper, and Niroshan Dickwella takes a brilliant diving catch. Jaiswal walks back for a three-ball duck.

Prabath Jayasuriya to KL Rahul, OUT! CAUGHT! Prabath Jayasuriya answers right back. This is full and on middle and leg. Rahul skips down the track and with mid on being up, he looks to go over that man. He takes the risk of going against the turn and pays the price. He does not manage to reach the pitch of the ball and fails to smother the spin. It spins away after landing to take the leading edge and it is skied towards long off, where the sub fielder, Milan Rathnayaka is three-quarters of the way in, and he makes no mistake. India are now 65/2, leading by 243 runs.

Keshara Nuwantha to Devdutt Padikkal, OUT! LBW! A confident shout and after giving it a thought, Ahsan Raza raises the finger. Devdutt Padikkal walks over to his partner and takes the review. Darted in from around the wicket, on a good length, on middle and leg. Padikkal presses back to clip it away, but the ball does not go on with the arm. It straightens to go past the bat and hits Padikkal on the back pad. The ball does not have much distance to travel, and the Ball Tracking has the ball crashing into the middle and leg stump. The centurion from the first innings falls. India lose their 4th wicket with a lead of 289 runs.

Prabath Jayasuriya to Shubman Gill, OUT! LBW! A huge appeal, and up goes the umpire's finger. Shubman Gill has a chat with Padikkal and the review is taken. Seemed pretty adjacent, and probably only the height factor can save Gill here. Prabath Jayasuriya flights the ball up on off and middle, Shubman Gill sits down and tries to drag the sweep across to the leg side but misses. The ball hits him on the back thigh pad and around the mid riff. The third umpire has a look at it, and there's nothing on UltraEdge. Ball Tracking shows three reds, and Jayasuriya strikes big. India are 81/3, leading by 259 runs.

Lahiru Kumara to Rishabh Pant, OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Lahiru Kumara's persistence pays off, and boy, he is delighted. Kumara digs it in short at around 141 kph and right at the batter. Rishabh Pant continues to move inside the line, looking to hook more than pull and doesn't get much bat on this one. The ball lobs up over the keeper's head, but Niroshan Dickwella does well to turn back and run after the ball, pouching it nicely. Pant departs after doing plenty of damage, and India are now 174/6.

Asitha Fernando to Dhruv Jurel, OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Sri Lanka get the review right. Dhruv Jurel has been strangled down leg. Angled in at the hips, Jurel swivels for the pull, but the ball is not that short. It sneaks under the blade and brushes something on its way to the keeper, who gets low to take the catch to his left. A confident shout, but it is turned down and Dhananjaya de Silva goes upstairs. The replays indicate that it may have grazed the thigh pad. Well, well, the UltraEdge shows a spike when the ball is next to the bat, but on the side-on angle, there does seem to be a gap between the bat and the pad. Harsha Bhogle informs that the umpires have been told that if the spike falls within one frame before or one frame after, it is considered an acceptable margin. The on-field decision is therefore overturned. India are 120/5, leading by 298 runs.

Lahiru Kumara to Ravindra Jadeja, OUT! CAUGHT! A fine catch, and Lahiru Kumara has wickets off successive overs, both off short balls. Kumara bends his back and digs it in short, around the left shoulder, getting the ball to climb onto the batter. Jadeja swivels for the pull but the ball gets big on him. It takes the top edge and flies behind square leg. The sub fielder, Pasindu Sooriyabandara, is well in off the deep backward square leg fence. He charges across to his left and puts in a full-length dive to grab it. He keeps hold of the ball even after his elbows hit the turf. India are 179/7 with a lead of 357 runs.

Asitha Fernando to Manav Suthar, OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Wicket number 3 for Asitha Fernando. Another Indian batter falls to a short ball. Cross-seam ball, dug in short, over the right shoulder. Suthar tries to get inside the line and play the pull behind square leg. The ball climbs onto the batter, and Suthar is late on the shot. It brushes the gloves on its way to the keeper, Niroshan Dickwella, who gobbles it up at head height. India are 8 down with a lead of 366 runs.

Prabath Jayasuriya to Kuldeep Yadav, OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Prabath Jayasuriya strikes right away on his return to the attack. This is tossed up from over the wicket, full and on off. Kuldeep is drawn forward, and the ball spins back into the left-hander. He ends up defending inside the line of the ball, and it takes the outside edge. It goes low to slip, where Dhananjaya de Silva snaffles it safely to his right. India are 190/9, leading by 368 runs.

Asitha Fernando to Prasidh Krishna, OUT! CAUGHT! Asitha Fernando closes out the innings with a four-fer, as India get bowled out for 193, leading by 371 runs. Fernando bangs it in short again and around leg, Prasidh Krishna backs away and looks to slam it down the ground but gets a top edge. The fielders from mid-wicket and mid on converge, but it is Lahiru Kumara from mid on who keeps his eyes on the ball and pouches it safely. Dhananjaya de Silva does well to move out of the way as well.

Mohammed Siraj to Nishan Fernando, OUT! CAUGHT! Prasidh Krishna nearly misjudged it, but he manages to hold on. A surprise short ball from Mohammed Siraj, directed right at the batter's face. Nishan Fernando is taken aback but goes after it and goes for the hook, mistiming it down to long leg. Krishna comes in a bit but then stops, eventually taking it low in front of him. Good catch given the swirling wind, and once again the opening partnership for Sri Lanka doesn't work out. 359 more needed for the win.

Manav Suthar to Lahiru Udara, OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Manav Suthar breaks through. Lahiru Udara cannot believe it, but he has been given the marching orders by the third umpire. From around the wicket, on a length, around off. Udara has a slightly tentative prod at the ball. It spins away to catch the outside edge. It dips on Dhruv Jurel, who is in really tight at gully. He has the helmet on and is on his knees there. He gets his hands out in front to scoop the ball. The third umpire is summoned for a check. Jurel tries to get his hands underneath the ball, but the fingers of his right hand are split as it hits his hand. Replays seem to suggest that the ball drags slightly along the ground, but the third umpire feels otherwise and is satisfied that Jurel has his fingers underneath the ball. That's a debatable dismissal. Sri Lanka are 47/4, chasing 372.

Manav Suthar to Pasindu Sooriyabandara, OUT! LBW! India successfully overturn the on-field decision. A huge, huge appeal, and Manav Suthar is literally begging the umpire to give it out, but he doesn't get the decision in his favour. This time Shubman Gill does review it after a bit of deliberation. Excellent length from Suthar, landing it on middle and the ball slides on with the arm. It is a nervy attempt at the block from Pasindu Sooriyabandara, but he misses and gets hit on the back leg. There's nothing on UltraEdge and Ball Tracking shows that the ball held its line, and it's three reds. A golden duck for the concussion sub.

Prasidh Krishna to Kamindu Mendis, OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Another one bites the dust, and Sri Lanka are in deep trouble after just 10.4 overs. Prasidh Krishna stays around the wicket, bowls it at over 140 clicks and back of a length, in the channel. This one moves away and Kamindu Mendis has a go at the cut shot. He ends up edging it towards first slip, where KL Rahul squats down and takes a sharp catch. Sri Lanka are 21/3 now, in a chase of 372.

Ravindra Jadeja to Dhananjaya de Silva, OUT! RELIEF FOR INDIA! The bowling change works like a charm for India. Dhananjaya de Silva was caught at slip yesterday off Jadeja’s bowling, but the celebrations were cut short as he had overstepped. This time, though, Jadeja has his foot well behind the line. At 89.6 kph, full and just outside off. Dhananjaya de Silva goes for the paddle sweep but the ball seemingly pops up a bit, and he can only find a top edge. As a result, the ball bobbles straight up and Manav Suthar at short fine leg gets underneath it and completes a routine catch. Sri Lanka are 142/5 as the captain falls. They need 230 more runs to win.

Manav Suthar to Sonal Dinusha, OUT! CAUGHT! The fight from Sonal Dinusha is over, and with him goes Sri Lanka’s hopes of avoiding defeat in this Test. This is tossed up from around the wicket with a leg gully in place. Dinusha lunges to tuck it away, but the ball spins back with a bit of bounce to catch the inside edge. It clips the pads before going straight into the waiting hands of Dhruv Jurel at leg gully, who is present under the helmet. He crouches and gobbles it up. End of a top effort in this Test by Dinusha.

Prasidh Krishna to Niroshan Dickwella, OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! One brings two for India quickly and they smell blood now. Digs it in short, veering down leg. Dickwella is caught off guard, still adjusting his feet as the ball arrives towards him. He backs away toward the leg side, badly misjudging the length, and by the time he realises how close it actually is, there's no room left to free his arms to access the off side. As a result, the outside edge carries all the way through to the keeper as Pant takes a regulation catch. Krishna has dismissed Dickwella both times in this Test. Sri Lanka slip from 142/4 to 156/6, needing another 216 runs.

Manav Suthar to Keshara Nuwantha, OUT! BOWLED! Suthar, fittingly, wraps it up in style, capping off an impressive 6-wicket haul in the process. He also completes a 10-for in this Test, having picked four wickets in the first innings. Sharing the attack with two far more experienced spinners, he has been the standout performer on a Galle surface that offered precious little in return. INDIA WIN BY 165 RUNS and take a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series. Coming to the ball, Suthar drops it short and around off. Nuwantha goes back to defend, but the ball comes back in, sneaking through the gap between bat and pad before crashing into off stump.

Manav Suthar to Prabath Jayasuriya, OUT! TIMBER! Just too good for a number 9. This is speared in from around the wicket, short in length in line with the off stump. Prabath Jayasuriya stays back to defend, but the ball lands and straightens off the deck to whistle past the outside edge, and it clatters into the off pole. Two in two for Suthar and he is on a hat-trick now. India need 2 more wickets for the win.

Manav Suthar to Lahiru Kumara, OUT! EDGED AND CAUGHT! A game-sealing over from Suthar. Triple whammy for him as he completes a well-deserved 5-wicket haul. The second of his very brief Test career. Tossed up, full and outside off, at 93 kph. Kumara lunges forward to defend but plays for the turn, but the ball goes on with the arm. He gets the faintest outside edge, and Pant collects safely to his left behind the stumps. A prolonged appeal for caught behind and up goes the finger. Kumara walks off without bothering to review. Sri Lanka are 199/9, with India just one wicket away from victory.
