    17.4

    Jofra Archer to Mohsin Khan

    0

MOHSIN KHAN is the last batter in, replacing Mayank Yadav.

    17.3

    Jofra Archer to Mayank Yadav

    W

out, OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Stunning piece of glovework from Jurel. LSG are 119/9, needing 41 runs from 15 balls.

    17.2

    Jofra Archer to Mayank Yadav

    4

FOUR, FOUR! Runs away through the gap! Fractionally fuller, around off. Mayank stays put and leg side of the ball, and cuts it late to the left of deep backward point for a boundary. Deep third, who is stationed a lot finer, stands no chance to cut it off.

    17.1

    Jofra Archer to Digvesh Singh

    1

1 run, Spot on bumper, on off. Digvesh arches back, opens the bat face and runs it to the left of deep third for a single.

Jofra Archer returns. 3-1-15-1 so far.

    16.6

    Brijesh Sharma to Mayank Yadav

    0

no run, Slower ball, short in length outside off, Mayank looks to cut but is early into his shot. Gets a bottom edge back to the bowler. What a sensational over - W WD 1 W 1 0 0 - Brijesh's bowling figures read 3-0-18-2!

    16.5

    Brijesh Sharma to Mayank Yadav

    0

no run, Full and outside off, pace off, Mayank Yadav looks to drive but gets an outside edge to short third.

    16.4

    Brijesh Sharma to Digvesh Singh

    1

1 run, Another fine yorker, around off, Digvesh Singh somehow manages to sig it out, eking an inside edge down to fine leg for a single.

This is ending all too quickly. DIGVESH SINGH walks in next, at number 10, replacing Mohammad Shami.

    16.3

    Brijesh Sharma to Mohammad Shami

    W

out, OUT! FLATTENS THE LEG STUMP! A ripper of a delivery from Sharma which puts RR in touching distance of a win. A ballistic yorker at 136.4 kph, angling into the leg stump. Shami stays rooted, looks to whip it over mid-wicket, but the bat comes down far too late. The ball sneaks past the inside edge and uproots the leg stump. Wicket number 2 from Brijesh Sharma. LSG are 113/8, needing 47 runs from 21 balls.

    16.2

    Brijesh Sharma to Mayank Yadav

    1

1 run, Short of a length outside off, angling in to Mayank Yadav, who rocks back and opens the face to run it down to deep third for a single.

    16.2

    Brijesh Sharma to Mayank Yadav

    1wd

wide, 1 run, WIDE! A little too straightish, short down leg. Mayank gets inside the line to leave.

The long tail is exposed now. Mayank Yadav walks in next, at number 9, replacing Mukul Choudhary.

    16.1

    Brijesh Sharma to Mukul Choudhary

    W

out, OUT! CAUGHT SPECTACULARLY! Just the wicket RR needed. They will feel that this is their game to lose now with Mukul, the last threat also dismissed. A well-executed short delivery by Brijesh, on top of off and climbing further after pitching. Mukul Choudhary is tucked up for room to play the pull shot across the line, but gets it high on the bat and sliced towards extra cover. The ball dips on Riyan Parag but the skipper dives forward and scoops the ball just inches above the ground.

Brijesh Sharma is back on. 2-0-15-0 so far.

    15.6

    Nandre Burger to Mohammad Shami

    6

SIX, SIX! WINGS DEPLOYED! Where did that come from? The golf course, I guess. Plenty of cricketers play golf these days and this shot represented one of those clean swings. Burger goes pace off once again, landing it short, around middle, this time Shami is ready, waits for it and swings it cleanly over deep mid-wicket! 12 runs from the over but the big wicket of Marsh as well, Nandre Burger ends with bowling figures of 4-0-27-2.

    15.5

    Nandre Burger to Mohammad Shami

    0

no run, Pace off again, on a length, outside off, angling away, Shami pushes loosely again, only to miss this time.

    15.4

    Nandre Burger to Mohammad Shami

    0

no run, NEARLY GONE FIRST BALL! Off cutter, outside off, on a length, Mohammad Shami plays a loose shot, away from  his body and nearly spoons a catch towards mid off. The ball lands just short of the fielder.

LUCKNOW SUPER GIANTS' STRATEGIC TIMEOUT. Things have gotten tricky again for the Giants. In fact, all of a sudden, Jadeja's unbeaten 43 is proving to be more valuable than Marsh's 55. Because LSG have a really long tail and it is all upto Mukul Choudhary now. Interestingly, after 15.3 overs, while LSG are 105/6, RR were 110/5! So there's nothing much to differentiate the two sides as of now. The last 3 overs of the first innings went for 43 runs, with Mayank Yadav conceding 20 alone in the 20th over. How LSG would wish they could halve that now! MOHAMMAD SHAMI walks in next, at number 8, replacing Mitchell Marsh.

    15.3

    Nandre Burger to Mitchell Marsh

    W

out, OUT! HIGH UP IN THE HEAVENS AND TAKEN! A strong response by Burger and LSG's troubles multiply from hereon. Slower off cutter, full and slanted outside off stump. Mitchell Marsh is a tad early into the shot as he plants his back knee into the pitch to smash it over the infield straight down the ground, but he has to stretch a bit extra to reach for it. He mistimes it by slicing the ball straight up over cover. Riyan Parag gets across with his eyes locked up on the ball and takes a sharp running catch to his right. The Super Giants are 105/6, needing 55 runs from 27 balls.

    15.2

    Nandre Burger to Mitchell Marsh

    0

no run, Fuller length, slower one, outside off. Marsh drives but finds Parag at short extra cover.

    15.1

    Nandre Burger to Mitchell Marsh

    6

SIX, SIX! FIFTY FOR MITCHELL MARSH! His first fifty this season and 10th overall in the IPL. He got several good starts this season, but this has come at a very crucial time when his team has needed him the most. Slower one, in the middle of the surface, outside off. Mitchell Marsh throws kitchen sink at it to dump it downtown. Despite the bottom hand coming off the handle, the sheer brute force on the shot helps the ball to go sailing over long off. 100 UP FOR LSG!

    50 runs for Mitchell Marsh

    100 runs for LSG

With Jadeja bowled out, we will have a bowling change from this end. Nandre Burger returns. 3-0-15-1 so far.

    14.6

    Ravi Bishnoi to Mukul Choudhary

    6

SIX, SIX! WHOOSH! What a way to end the over. The googly, outside off, pretty full, Mukul Choudhary gets down and slogs this miles over mid-wicket! 10 from the over, albeit with a wicket. Ravi Bishnoi's bowling figures read 3-0-23-1 so far.

    14.5

    Ravi Bishnoi to Mitchell Marsh

    14.4

    Ravi Bishnoi to Mukul Choudhary

    1

1 run, Outside off, worked through mid-wicket for a single to get off the mark.

Mukul Choudhary walks in next, at number 7, replacing Himmat Singh.

    14.3

    Ravi Bishnoi to Himmat Singh

    W

out, OUT! BOWLED! The missed stumping does not count for much. The googly, outside off, Himmat Singh goes for a big loft down the ground and leaves a massive gate open to allow the ball to see the gap between bat and pad. He misses the ball and it goes right through that gap, to uproot the off stump. Bishnoi brings out the notebook celebration looking at the LSG dugout, sending out a message to his team and ex-mate, Digvesh Singh. The 37-run stand is broken and LSG are 91/5. EQUATION - 69 RUNS, 33 BALLS.

5 wickets down for LSG. Out batsman is Himmat Singh

    14.2

    Ravi Bishnoi to Mitchell Marsh

    1

1 run, Another short ball, outside off, Mitchell Marsh looks to heave but gets a thick inside edge onto his pads. The ball deflects to the off side and the batters take a quick run.

    14.1

    Ravi Bishnoi to Himmat Singh

    1

1 run, A short ball, pulled down to long on for a single.

Ravi Bishnoi returns. 2-0-13-0 so far.

    13.6

    13.5

    Ravindra Jadeja to Himmat Singh

    0

no run, Around off, pushed back to the bowler.

    13.4

    Ravindra Jadeja to Himmat Singh

    6

SIX, SIX! Pleasing to the eye but insulting for RR! A stumping is missed and the next ball gets dismissed. Flighted, outside off, Himmat Singh stays leg side of the ball and lofts this gorgeously over extra cover!

    13.3

    Ravindra Jadeja to Himmat Singh

    0

no run, DHRUV JUREL MISSES A STUMPING. Fired in outside off, Himmat Singh attempts the reverse sweep but misses. In the process, he loses his balance and is out of his crease. But the keeper, Jurel, in his attempt to affect the stumping, fumbles slightly and takes that extra second to whip the bail off. Himmat recovers by then.

    13.2

    Ravindra Jadeja to Mitchell Marsh

    1lb

leg byes, 1 run, Appeal for LBW, but the finger stays down. Full, outside off, Mitchell Marsh gets down to play the sweep but misses and is hit on the body. The impact seemed to be outside off.

    12.4

    Brijesh Sharma to Mitchell Marsh

    1

1 run, A full toss, down the leg side, Mitchell Marsh looks to whip but misses. The ball goes off his pads to short fine leg. The batters take a single but there is no signal of a leg bye from the umpire. Must have been an inside edge then.

Stop please. Brijesh comes trundling in, but the Bison has his hand up. Some naughty person is moving up and down near the sightscreen. Ready to resume now.

    12.3

    Brijesh Sharma to Himmat Singh

    11.1

    Ravindra Jadeja to Mitchell Marsh

    4

FOUR, FOUR! WHAM! Full, around middle, Mitchell Marsh gets down and sweeps it with power through mid-wicket!

The required rate is now touching double 1s. Talking about doubles, if you keep Marsh and Himmat together in one frame, it actually appears as if there are two Mitchell Marshs standing together. That's how similar they look. Even his brother Shaun does not have so much similarity with Mitch.

    10.6

    Ravi Bishnoi to Himmat Singh

    0

no run, Full, outside off, Himmat pushes it towards point. Despite the boundary, just the 7 runs from the over.

Prince Yadav is substituted by Himmat Singh

    9.4

    Ravindra Jadeja to Nicholas Pooran

    W

out, OUT! CAUGHT! A rare shot in anger and Pooran falls. Short, outside off, Nicholas Pooran goes for the pull, attempting more of a heave. Gets the ball on the higher part of the bat and hence, gets a lot more elevation than distance. Long on steadies himself and Donovan Ferreira makes no mistake. The saying goes that, 'Never run on a misfield'. In this case, it is the opposite. Had Ravi not fumbled on the previous ball, Pooran would not have been on strike for this one. He is totally disconsolate as he literally trudges off the field, having got a start. The 43-run stand is broken and LSG ARE 54/4, NEEDING ANOTHER 106 RUNS FROM 62 BALLS.

    9.3

    Ravindra Jadeja to Nicholas Pooran

    2

2 runs, On middle, Pooran works it towards long on and calls for the second. The substitute fielder, Ravi Singh, who had ran out Badoni, charges in but in his haste to pick the ball up, fumbles and gives in to the pressure, conceding the second.

    50 runs for LSG

    8.5

    Ravi Bishnoi to Nicholas Pooran

    0

no run, Mixup, but safe. Short and wide outside off, Nicky P cuts it to the right of Riyan Parag at cover and for some reason, Marsh wants the single. He is sent back just in time.

    8.4

    Ravi Bishnoi to Nicholas Pooran

    1wd

wide, 1 run, WIDE. Miles outside off, another wrong 'un, Pooran looks to cut but misses. This is interesting. RR review for a caught behind. By the hand signals, it seems like Jurel is telling Bishnoi that he heard a noise. Unfortunately for them and their team, UltraEdge returns a flat line when the ball is near the bat. RR lose a review.

    8.3

    Ravi Bishnoi to Mitchell Marsh

    1

1 run, Outside off, punched down to long on for a single.

    8.2

    Ravi Bishnoi to Mitchell Marsh

    2

    Ravi Bishnoi to Nicholas Pooran

    1

1 run, A googly to start, short in length, spinning away, Nicholas Pooran looks to cut but the ball stops a bit on the surface. He mistimes it towards cover where the fielder dives to his left and parries it to long off. A single taken.

Just a hint of turn visible in that over. Dual spin now. Ravi Bishnoi will bowl.

    7.6

    Ravindra Jadeja to Nicholas Pooran

    1

1 run, A touch short, around leg, Pooran gets down and pulls it through square leg for another single.

    7.1

    Ravindra Jadeja to Mitchell Marsh

    0

no run, Full, outside off, Mitchell Marsh pushes it towards cover.

RAJASTHAN ROYALS' STRATEGIC TIME OUT. Has the ball becoming older become a worry for the Royals? Or what happened in the Powerplay was just a Jofra-Burger effect? Either ways, the ball has stopped moving and scoring has seemingly gotten easier. Maybe, dew has started to form a bit. Marsh and Pooran have played responsibly to not throw it away and kept their heads down and played the ball, rather than the situation. It will be interesting to see how spin fares. Here's Ravindra Jadeja.

    6.6

    Brijesh Sharma to Nicholas Pooran

    4

FOUR, FOUR! CLASSY! 'Pooran close to his very best', chimes Daren Ganga on air. Very full, outside off, Nicholas Pooran gets a big stride in, reaches the pitch of the ball and drives it to the right of mid off. Riyan Parag tries his best to cut that off, but the ball simply races through!

    6.5

    Brijesh Sharma to Nicholas Pooran

    0

no run, On a length, around off, decent bounce, Nicholas bunts it back to the bowler.

    6.4

    Brijesh Sharma to Nicholas Pooran

    4

    6.1

    Brijesh Sharma to Mitchell Marsh

    0

no run, On a length, outside off, pushed into the off side.

Who has won the Powerplay battle then? LSG are 31/3, while at the same stage, RR were 44/3. Let's say, the Royals fared a bit better then, although the Super Giants are on a bit of a recovery. Brijesh Sharma gets the ball now.

    5.6

    Nandre Burger to Mitchell Marsh

    1

1 run, Marsh gets on the front foot and hits the length ball to the right of point for a single. At the end of the Powerplay, Lucknow Super Giants are 31/3, chasing 160 runs.

    5.5

    Nandre Burger to Mitchell Marsh

    0

no run, Perfect response with the ball! In the vicinity of the off pole, on a fractionally fuller length. Marsh is sucked forward to block, but the ball nips past his outside edge.

    5.4

    Nandre Burger to Mitchell Marsh

    6

SIX, SIX! The Bison wakes up! A length ball, around leg and middle. The ball doesn't rise much and comes at hip height for Mitchell Marsh. He hangs back and pulls it ruthlessly behind deep square leg for a biggie.

    5.3

    Nandre Burger to Nicholas Pooran

    1

1 run, Cannons in at 143.2 kph, full on middle. Pooran gets a bit across and works it wide of mid-wicket for a single.

    0

no run, Smell that leather, mate! This is high quality bowling from Archer so far. Sharp short ball around off, it pitches and rears sharply at 148 kmph. Pooran hops and sways out of the way, and Jurel leaps to collect cleanly with both hands.

no run, BEATEN! A corker of a delivery and Pooran had no clue about it. Archer bends his back and bowls it short, on top of middle. It lands and nips away, squaring Nicholas Pooran of both pace and bounce. Nicholas tries to block, but it zips past the outside edge by a kitten-whisker.

    Jofra Archer to Aiden Markram

    W

out, OUT! STRAIGHT UP AND GONE! It is going down south really quickly for the Super Giants now. It is a back-of-a-length delivery from Archer, shot at a good pace, over the top of the middle stump and a bit of extra lift as well. Aiden Markram tries to play an uncharacteristic heave across the line of the ball and only manages a thick top edge. The ball swirls up over the keeper's head but Jurel keeps his cool and takes the skier watchfully. Jofra has his second wicket and is up and about.

3 wickets down for LSG. Out batsman is Aiden Markram

    Nandre Burger to Rishabh Pant

    W

out, OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Burger fishes out the opposition skipper. Not an ideal shot selection from Pant, one has to say. Short of a good length outside off, Pant drops to one knee with a pre-meditated slog sweep against the left arm seamer, only to get a faint inside edge through to Jurel behind the stumps. A slight appeal from Burger and up goes the finger. Pant leaves the field livid with himself.

    Jofra Archer to Ayush Badoni

    W

out, OUT! AYUSH BADONI IS RUN OUT! An extremely disappointing way to get dismissed. This one kicks up from the deck, on a length, on the leg stump line. Badoni is rushed on the back foot and tries to tuck it to the square leg region but fails to do so. The ball deflects off the thigh pad and rolls into the square leg region and both the batters decide to cross over, but Marsh from halfway down the pitch, sends Badoni back, as he sees Ravi Singh, the sub fielder, charge on the ball quickly. There is a couple of yes and no between the batters and Badoni finds himself in deep waters, too far to retreat back. A simple underarm throw from Ravi to the batting end and Badoni is not even in the frame. Lucknow Super Giants are 9/1, chasing 160 runs.

Direct hit at the striker's end. Badoni looks gone for all money and the replay shows the same. Nowhere in the frame. A huge, huge mixup.
