Harshit Rana cleverly rolls his fingers on the ball to take pace off, serves this full and way outside off. Henry Nicholls gets in two minds whether to play or not, and ends up just hanging his bat out to reach for it. The ball dips just in front of his bat and takes the outside edge, before KL Rahul dives to his left to take a fine catch behind the stumps. Nicholls falls for an excellent 62 off 69, and has given New Zealand a superb start here.

Mohammed Siraj to Will Young, OUT! TAKEN! Mohammed Siraj gets a wicket now, and he has deserved it. He steams in from over the wicket, rolls his fingers and bangs this into the pitch as well. Will Young just bends his back to sway away and tries to upper cut, but only manages to get a slight outside edge behind, where KL Rahul takes a dolly. Siraj did not give any room to the batters all over, and finally got the reward. New Zealand are 146/3 now, and the crowd is finding its voice again. Will Young departs on 12 (16).

Floated around off, on a fuller length, Glenn Phillips gets sucked into the shot. He pushes at the delivery with hard hands, but is nowhere near the pitch of the ball. His bat gets dragged in front of his pads as he looks to drive it through cover, but gets a thick outside edge. The ball is chipped towards Shreyas Iyer stationed at backward point for an easy catch. Glenn Phillips admonishes himself on the way to the dressing room. 12 (19) for GP and New Zealand are 170/4.

The ball skids and nips back in sharply off the seam. Mitchell Hay gets squared up and plays all over it, getting beaten on the inside edge trying to block. The ball sneaks through the gap between bat and pad and clips the top of middle and off stumps. Mitchell Hay got a start, but couldn't cash on it. 18 (13) from him. New Zealand are 198/5.

However, Shreyas Iyer is quick to run forward, picks it up with one hand and hits the bullseye at the bowler's end, with Michael Bracewell struggling to make his ground while completing the second run. He does not look that confident, and the replay shows that he is short of his crease. The Kiwi skipper goes back for 16 off 18, and New Zealand are 237/6 now.
