Perera was looking to throw everything at the balls which had width and in that process, he loses his wicket. A back of a length ball outside off, Perera's eyes light up again as he slashes his bat at this. The ball, though takes the outside edge and goes to the left of de Kock, who has absolutely no problems in gobbling this one up. After a good start to the game, the wheels are falling off slightly for Sri Lanka.

Bowls a short ball around off, Mendis looks to pull this one away but the ball takes the top edge and lobs towards the mid on region, where Ngidi runs in and takes a very good catch. Mendis falls and he will be disappointed with this.

This once again, like quite a few deliveries in this gamne, rises out of nowhere. Lands on off and then takes off. Chandimal looks to fend it away by taking a hand off the handle. It flies off the glove to the widish frist slip fielder. End of a lovely knock from Chandimal but South Africa will hope this opens the floodgates.

Wiaan Mulder to Niroshan Dickwella, OUT! LBW! Sri Lanka lose both, a review and Dickwella, with the second new ball nearing. A pretty straight ball, which at first, seemed to be pitching outside leg. Niroshan was trying to work it to the leg side but the ball straightened a touch and kept low as well, hitting him on the pads. Mulder appealed and up went Erasmus' finger! ND immediately took the review, suggesting the ball was pitched outside leg. Ultra Edge seemed to detect a spike when ball passed the bat but closer look at the replays suggested that the bat was well away from the ball. And then came Ball Tracker. Pitched JUST about in line and hitting the stumps. Big wicket.

That seemed that it would be dropped but the man there does well to hold onto it on the fourth attempt. A back of a length ball around off, Kumara thinks about playing and then leaving and in the end, leaves his bat hanging, the ball takes the outside edge and goes to the slip region, were Rassie does well to take it on the fourth attempt after the ball seemed to be popping out of his hands.

Full and outside off, Elgar looks to drive it straight back, but is unable to keep it down. Also, he is a touch away from the ball, which makes him close the bat face early. Normally, one gets away with such shots. But Shanaka is an excellent athlete. He takes a stinger to his left using both hands. Elgar cannot believe his luck. He just stands there, smiling, wishing what could have been, had he scored 5 more runs and got his 13th Test century.

This time, Markram is tempted into the shot after being watchful in leaving balls in these areas alone. He throws his bat at this one but it proves to be his downfall. The ball takes the outside edge and flies towards Dasun Shanaka at gully, who is not going to drop this. Aiden looks at the heavens in frustration. Jersey number 68 takes out a man who was on 68.

Throughout the day, Sri Lanka have been struggling to be disciplined and bowl consistent lines and lengths. Since Tea, Kumara has found something and eventually, been rewarded. It is just short of full, very close to the off stump, making the batsman play at it and then, shape it away. From Rassie van der Dussen's point of view, he gets half forward. Normally, one does that when he is not sure whether to play at it or let it go. The bat just comes a little forward but in a hesitant manner. As a result, the outside edge is taken.
