New Delhi: It is the crunch time for many students who are set to appear for FIITJEE (Forum For Indian Institute of Technology-Joint Entrance Examination) exams. The exam dates for Dronacharya 2 online proctored exams are 2 and 7 February 2025 while for the offline exam is 2 February 2025.

Now just ahead of the exams, about eight FIITJEE coaching centres across North India have suddenly closed over the past week. This shut down has left hundreds of students and parents angry and livid. Officials say that the centres were shut down after several teachers at the institute tendered mass resignations as they were not paid their salaries.

The FIITJEE coaching centres that have shut down are located at Noida, Ghaziabad, Bhopal, Varanasi, Delhi, Patna, and Meerut. According to officials, the centre’s administration initially tried to arrange for teachers from Noida, but that lasted only for a couple of days after which they had to shut down the institute.

On Tuesday, January 21, it was revealed that FIITJEE has closed its centres not only in Patna but in various cities across the country. Thousands of students and their families have suffered huge losses due to the sudden closure of these coaching centres. It is alleged that the institute abruptly stopped coaching after collecting fees from the students. At the same time, many teachers resigned due to non-payment of salaries.

In December, the police had registered a case against FIITJEE coaching operators. Taking cognizance of the complaint of the students and their parents, a case was registered against FIITJEE Coaching Chairman DK Goyal, COO Manish Anand, CFO Rajiv Kababbar and Sumit Srivastava. The police have registered a case under section 318 of the BNS.

A parent who had recently deposited a Rs 4 lakh fee, said, “An outgoing FIITJEE teacher told us that most faculty members are leaving as they have not been paid salaries for several months.”

Recently, the Delhi State Commission ruled that coaching institutes can charge advance fees only for the semester for which they are supposed to teach and not for the entire course. The decision came during the hearing of a petition seeking a refund of fees by a CAT aspirant. The student had taken admission in a two-year course but dropped out after two months.
