IPS Sharan Kamble is a police officer of Rajasthan cadre who became an IPS by cracking UPSC 2020. He then passed UPSC in 2021. But he never liked the IFS cadre.

This is the story of Sharan Kamble, an IPS officer of Rajasthan cadre who is a resident of Solapur in Maharashtra. Kamble’s parents used to work as labourers and sell vegetables. But they never backed down from educating Sharan Kamble.

Born on September 30 1993 in Tadwale village of Barsi tehsil of Solapur district of Maharashtra, Sharan Kamble studied up to 10th standard in the government school of the village. He studied 11th and 12th standard in a school in a neighbouring village 12 kilometres away. After this, he did B.Tech from Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli and then did PG from IISc.

Rejected a job offer of 20 lakhs for UPSC

After doing his PG from Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc), he got a job offer with a salary package of Rs 20 lakh per annum. But by then he had decided to join the civil services. His father Gopinath also had a dream that his son should become an officer. So Kamble rejected this job offer and went to Delhi and started preparing for UPSC.

Prepared for UPSC with scholarship

Sharan Kamble went to Delhi and started preparing for UPSC, but soon poverty became an obstacle in his path. In such a situation, he gave the Maharashtra Government’s scholarship scheme exam. After passing it, he started getting a scholarship of Rs 12000 per month for eight months. After which he was able to prepare.

UPSC Rank of Sharan Kamble

Sharan Kamble passed UPSC CAPF 2019 with All India 8th rank. After this, he became IPS by passing UPSC Civil Services 2020 with All India 542 rank. After this, he again secured 127th rank in UPSC Civil Services 2021. This time he got IFS cadre. But he chose IPS instead.
