AIIMS MBBS Result 2018: The AIIMS MBBS Result 2018 saw a total of 7,617 candidates, including 2,705 females who have qualified the medical entrance examination, out of which the top three ranks have been secured by girl students. All of 17, Eliza Bansal from Lehragaga town of Punjab’s Sangrur district bagged the first position while Ramneek Kaur Mahal of Punjab’s Bathinda secured the second rank and Mehak Arora from Panchkula in Haryana held the third position in the examination.
While Eliza aspires to be a cardiologist, Ramneek wants to be a neurologist. The third topper Mehak is driven to become a doctor in lieu of her father’s untimely demise which happened due to medical negligence. While speaking to TOI, Mehak said,”My mother tells me he just had a toothache. The doctor gave him some injection and he died after that.” This is what drove Mehak to take up the medical profession.
Meanwhile, Kota in Rajasthan – the coaching hub, retained its position and name as one of the best coaching institutes in the country after 9 out 10 students cleared the AIIMS MBBS examination 2018. Last year, all the top 10 ranking students were from Kota. As many as 2,649 candidates qualified for the first round of centralised counselling. The cutoff percentile is 98.83 per cent for the general category, 97.01 per cent for OBC and 93.65 per cent for SC/ST category students. Among the top 50, at least 34 students were from Kota.
The All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) examination was held on May 26 and 27 for 800 seats in nine AIIMS, including Delhi for which the results were declared yesterday. Those who have qualified the examination are eligible for online counselling for admission to AIIMS. There are 100 seats each in AIIMS in New Delhi, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikesh and 50 seats each in AIIMS in Mangalagiri (Guntur) and Nagpur.
