The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2016 is expected to be conducted in November. Though there are possibilities that the exam might be delayed like last year, it was held on November 29, 2015 candidates should not count on the bonus time. Know what CAT is all about: Before jumping into the preparation of Common Admission Test, one should know about the purpose of appearing for the test. CAT is a high-level aptitude test conducted to admit candidates to prestigious management institutes. CAT is conducted by IIMs, every year an IIM is appointed who takes the responsibility of conducting CAT exam successfully. This year IIM Bangalore is going to conduct CAT 2016. Know your strengths and weaknesses: Before beginning to prepare, it’s very import to assess the strengths and weaknesses. Take a mock test and analyze the results. Check the level of performance and see the sectional performance. It is very important to maintain sectional score, at the same time you would be able to know strengths which would help in getting high percentile in the final performance. Select material for preparation: After getting the knowledge of strengths and weaknesses, candidates need to assemble the best study material. The study material can be found online as well as in the markets. Candidates should also get previous years’ question papers. Candidates can also join preparation institutes which provide study material and also conduct test series.
Where to begin with: Knowing that there is an extensive syllabus it becomes difficult to decide where to begin with. One should start with the basics. The best books to refer to would be NCERT class 10 books.
Make a realistic time table and stick to it: Mostly CAT aspirants are working professionals or are students. In both cases one would need certain amount of effort to give sufficient time for CAT preparation. Make a realistic time table because you would know how much time you can squeeze for the CAT 2016 preparation. Most importantly, stick to the time table. Practice and persistence is the key to succeed in CAT exam.
