Jun. 28, 2017: CAT or Common Aptitude Test 2017 would be conducted by IIM Lucknow this year. As per the official notification shared, the entrance and eligibility test for top MBA institutes in the country would be conducted by Indian Institute of Management Lucknow in the months of November or December 2017. In 2016, CAT was conducted by IIM Bangalore. IIM Lucknow would be conducting the CAT after a gap of seven years. CAT is conducted by IIMs – top Management institutes of the country, on a rotational basis. The exam, written by nearly 2.50 lakh students every year is the qualifier for admissions to 19 IIMs along with 150 other MBA institutes in the country. Every year, the exam is convened and conducted under the supervision of one of the top regional IIMs. Last year the examination was conducted on December 4 by IIM Bangalore. In the year prior to that, CAT was conducted by IIM Ahmedabad. Prof Neeraj Dwivedi of IIM Lucknow has been appointed as the CAT 2017 convener. The notification would be released towards the end of July.
Sources have suggested that IIM Lucknow is likely to introduce minor changes in the examination pattern and structure. Full syllabus, details and examination pattern for CAT 2017 would be released by IIM Lucknow along with the registration details and brochure. It is being suggested tentatively that CAT 2017 would be conducted on the last Sunday of November or the First Sunday of December. The confirmation of the date, however, is not available as yet. CAT is a computer based test conducted by the IIMs every year as a qualifier for admission to the top MBA programs. The exam, however, is not conducted by all IIMs. Only the core Indian Institutes of Management conduct the examination. Registrations for the test would be done online and there would be no offline forms available. The official website of CAT would have the online application forms which are expected to be made available by August 2017.
