May 9, 2017: CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) is rapidly working towards finalizing the Class 12th Board Examination 2017 Results. Sources involved in checking of answer sheets suggest that the correction is almost complete and only a few centers are left. The corrections were to close by today, Tuesday May 9, 2017. CBSE this year has been under immense pressure of examinations that have overlapped. Responsible for conducting the Board Examinations for 10th and 12th of all CBSE affiliated schools as well as various national level entrance examinations, sources revealed that CBSE was suffering from a massive resource crunch. There is a possibility, another source suggested, that the results for Class 12th 2017 Board Examinations be delayed by a couple of days this year. Last year the results were declared on May 24. While earlier reports had revealed that the results are likely to be released around the same time, a few teachers have shown concerns about keeping with the schedule. There has been tremendous pressure of teachers responsible for marking the examination answer sheets. To get the task finished in time has been a challenge and coordinators have worked tirelessly to achieve the desired results. Another coordinator commented that the schedule is already delayed by two days. How quickly the results are compiled and announced is now up to CBSE. A source employed in correction of answer sheets shared, “This year, on an average we have employed 20 percent additional teachers for corrections of answer sheets. All this has been done to speed up the process. CBSE is mindful of the fact that the results of Class 12th Board Examinations are crucial and time is an important factor. However, not much could be done as examinations ended on April 29. Economics and Physical Education Papers took the longest time as they were conducted towards the end of April.” The coordinator further commented that the corrections are almost complete and answer sheets would be now sent to CBSE office for compilation of results. Nearly 11 lakh students have appeared in CBSE Class 12th Board Examinations. Due to delay in the examinations this year because of Assembly Elections in 5 states, the Board was under a lot of stress. More so as it is responsible for conducting the Joint Entrance Examination 2017 (JEE Main) as well as the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – NEET for Medical and Dental admissions across the country. Both these examinations were scheduled in the months following the board examinations. Sources reveal that conducting the national examination requires a lot of resources. The delay in board exams has further caused smaller margins for the board to operate in.
