New Delhi, Mar 28: Students are unhappy and some are even dejected after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced re-examination for Class 10 Mathematics Examination and Class 12 Economics Papers. The parents of Class X and Class XII students vented out their ire on the social media questioning as to why should the kids be sufferers. The CBSE announced that it would re-conduct these two exams after reports of paper leak and would announce the dates within a week on its website. CBSE Class 10 students, who were rejoicing their last exam, were dejected on hearing the news. They said that they will now have to drop all plans of vacations that were scheduled post the board exams. Some students have even begun an online petition asking CBSE to cancel the re-examination, saying it was not fair on the students who had taken exams with complete honesty. Among the parents who took to Twitter to explain what their kids were feeling was Congress leader Ajay Maken. “My son Aujaswi studied really hard for CBSE Class X Board Math Exams held today His joy of finishing Board Exams was short lived. He is extremely dejected as the Math paper got leaked,” he tweeted. A senior journalist also tweeted saying that her daughter was in tears after hearing that she would have to take the exam again.
SIT Formed, PM Modi Speaks With Javadekar
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar regarding CBSE paper leaks and expressed his displeasure. He asked the Minister to take strict action against the miscreants who leaked board question papers.
Meanwhile, the Crime Branch Delhi Police has registered two cases in connection with Class XII and Class X CBSE paper leak. An SIT headed by Joint Commissioner of Police Crime has also been constituted to investigate the case. The police conducted raids in connection with the paper leaks.
Javadekar, while speaking to Zee News after the CBSE announcement said that the government will work to ensure a leak proof re-examination of the two papers. He also said that action will be taken against those who leaked the Class X Maths and Class XII Economics Papers on WhatsApp.
The CBSE Class XII Economics question paper was reportedly leaked on WhatsApp a day before the exam was to be conducted. A hand written Economics question paper had appeared on a teacher’s WhatsApp, who had then alerted the Board. Reports said the Class X Maths Paper that was conducted on Wednesday was also leaked on Tuesday night.
Students, who had walked out of examination centres with smiles and relief of the exams getting over, will now have to get back to preparations for re-examination of these two subjects.
“The board has taken cognizance of certain happenings in the conduct of certain examinations as are being reported. With the view to uphold the sanctity of the Board Examinations and in the interest of the fairness to the students, the Board has decided to reconduct the examinations in the following subjects. Dates for fresh examinations and the other details shall be hosted on the CBSE website within a week,” CBSE has said in its statement.
