New Delhi: In a major development amid the nationwide row on NEET Exam, the central government has decided to form a high-level committee to review functioning of the National Testing Agency on Thursday. ”We are committed to hold zero-error exam, and a high-level committee is being formed to improve NTA functioning,” Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said at a press briefing.
On NEET issue, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said, “I would like to say humbly that we have to pay attention to the interests of lakhs of brilliant students who have passed that exam after working very hard. As I said in the preliminary information that the work of Patna Police is commendable. They have been able to round up one isolated incident. Some more information is yet to come. Therefore, we will take final action on it soon. We are satisfied with their investigation. Officials of the Government of India and senior officials of Bihar Police are in constant dialogue…”
“In the context of the NEET exam, we are in touch with Bihar government. We are receiving some information from Patna. Police Police are investigating and a detailed report will be submitted by them. Following credible information, strict action will be taken against the guilty”, he added.
After the Ministry of Education cancelled the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on June 18, Nationalist Congress Party (SCP) national spokesperson Clyde Crasto demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
“The cancellation of the UGC-NET June 2024 examination exposes another failures of the central government’s education department in running the education system in our country. Just a few days ago, the NEET exams issue brought to light how malpractices and favouritism are prevailing in our education system,” he said.
“The central government, by failing in doing their duty diligently towards the students of our country are disrespecting their hard work and also playing with their lives. If Dharmendra Pradhan is unable to handle his portfolio as an education minister, he must resign,” Crasto added.
Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar also criticised the government over the alleged NEET paper leak and the cancellation of the UGC-NET exam.
In a post on X, the Karnataka Minister said that the Congress will speak up for the children and their future fearlessly until the government is forced to listen and take action.
