New Delhi, Nov 28: Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) on Monday slashed the pass percentage for the class 10 or ICSE and 12 or ISC board examinations. The pass percentage of the students of class 10 or Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) has been slashed by two per cent from 35 per cent to 33. The pass per cent of Indian School Certificate (ISC) or class 12 has been brought down from 40 per cent to 35. This has been done to match all other Boards in the country.
The class 10 students will now have to score 33 per cent from the academic term beginning in 2019 while students of class 12 will not have to score 35 per cent to clear the board examination. The minimum marks required to clear the class 9 and 11 have also been dropped. Students appearing in the class 9 exams will have to score a minimum of 33 per cent and for those appearing in the class 11 exams will have need 35 per cent to clear the examination. In a nutshell, pass percentage for class 9 and 10 will be 33 per cent and 40 for those appearing in class 11 and 12 exams.
However, the students should note that the pass per cent will remain as it is for now and will be slashed from the academic session starting in 2019. All the heads of the schools have been asked to implement CISCE notification from the examination year 2019. The same will be implemented in the internal exams as well, according to the reports.
The CISCE notification said that this has been implemented the board received various recommendations from Inter Board Working Group (IBWG). The recommendations said that all the boards across the country should have a uniform passing criteria to ensure standardisation.
