Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have changed Common Aptitude Test (CAT) pattern for 2014. Earlier, the time slot to take the exam was of a period of 22-days. Since there are variations in examination dates, CAT will be conducted now only on two separate dates. Leaving, candidates with no option of selecting their preferred date slot. Aspirants will be provided with three options to select the test cities (arranged according to preference).  Candidates will be given their first preferred city across the four sessions on random basis as far as possible. Also, candidates can no longer purchase offline vouchers; payment will have to be conducted through online mode only.   • The test duration is increased from 140 minutes to 170 minutes (two hours 50 minutes in total)
  • Each section now will be comprised of 50 questions i.e., 20 more added to the existing pattern.
  • Candidates can now enjoy the liberty to devote more or less time to each section according to their ability. Candidate can switch from one section to another section at any point during the examination timing.
  • The tutorial will not be available before the start of the examination and the candidates are advised to do the tutorials from the website well in advance.
  • CAT 2014 has not experienced any change in the exam syllabus. Questions will be based on Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning; divided into four sections.

CAT 2014 will be conducted in 99 cities comprising of 354 test sites, details of which will be established on the official website of CAT 2014.

The registration for the CAT 2014 will remain open till September 30, 2014. Students will be able to download admit card from October 16, 2014 to until the date of examination. The results will be declared in the third week of December 2014.
