Who is the young IAS officer who cracked UPSC in her first attempt?

Srushti was born on March 28, 1996, to Jayant Deshmukh, an engineer in a private organization, and Sunita Deshmukh, a teacher in a private school in Bhopal. Her parents instilled strong values of hard work and perseverance from an early age.

Throughout her school career, Srushti established herself as a talented student, earning a perfect score of 10 CGPA in Class 10 and 93 per cent in Class 12 at Carmel Convent School, Bhopal. Srushti earned her degree in Chemical Engineering from the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal, in 2018, but wanted to achieve much more than that; hence, she began preparing for the extremely competitive Civil Services Examination and aspired to be a public servant who represents her community.

Srushti was determined to pass the UPSC Civil Services Examination on her first attempt. She worked tirelessly to achieve the UPSC exam. Srushti achieved All India Rank 5 in the 2018 UPSC CSE, receiving an outstanding score of 895 on the Mains and 173 in the Interview stage. She was the top female in her batch.

In addition, she became the top female candidate in the UPSC CSE Result 2018. She cracked the UPSC exam on her first attempt, without any coaching, reportedly at just 23 years old.

Srushti prepared by following a methodical and structured schedule that emphasised self-study, including her daily reading of newspapers and her constant watching of informative shows on Rajya Sabha TV, which helped to improve her base of knowledge and improve her analytical capabilities and answer-writing skills, which assisted her greatly in succeeding in the UPSC examination.

Srushti Deshmukh and Nagarjun Gowda, both Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers who are quite popular on social media, developed a relationship during their UPSC training. The couple got engaged in August 2021. Later, they got married in April 2022. Both IAS officers are currently posted in Madhya Pradesh. IAS Srushti Deshmukh’s husband, IAS Nagarjun Gowda, is from Karnataka and secured an impressive All-India Rank (AIR) 418 in 2018 in UPSC.
