  • Colleges have been told to display the number of seats they have vacant on their websites and notice boards by 10 am today (August 4).
  • Registrations for vacant DU seats in reserved categories will take place on August 4 & 5 (till 4 pm).
  • On August 5, colleges will display the list of eligible candidates by 5 pm.
  • Admissions for vacant seats in DU colleges will take place on August 6 & 7.

UGC Secretary Jaspal Singh Sandhu has written to DU that there is acute faculty crunch at DU colleges, according to a report by the HRD ministry. Out of 1,706 sanctioned teaching posts at various colleges, 902 are lying vacant. Temporary teachers who were employed by the DU in the last financial years and meet minimum criteria laid down by the UGC can help bridge the crisis to some extent.
