The error was observed in the fifth question in Marathi (Compulsory) paper of Civil Services (Main) examination, 2014. Where the instructions to translate the Marathi passage to English were not printed. Authorities have assured that the results are not going to be affected by this error.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Civil Services Main Exam 2014 was conducted from December 14 to December 20, 2014, in two sessions. The written exam was comprised of 1750 marks in total.

Candidates cleared the preliminary exam 2014, were only able to appear for the main exam to remain eligible for final selection. The final selection of candidates is based on their performance in written test, physical efficiency exam and personal interview.

The UPSC conducts the Civil Services Examination to recruit candidates for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), etc. There are three stages of the examination consist of the Preliminary round, which is followed by the Mains and Interview.
