Who is this inspiring UPSC topper?
Gee Gee A.S. succeeded in the UPSC Civil Services Examination not once, but twice. Speaking of her family, Gee Gee A.S.’s father worked as an electrician. She was raised in a modest family; her mother is a homemaker, and her brother worked as a social worker. She is the first member of her family to enter the civil services.
When did she first clear the UPSC and join the IPS?
She secured an All India Rank(AIR) of 25 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024. She achieved this dream on her third attempt. Gee Gee A.S. completed her school education at Jaipal Garodia Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kolathur, and completed her undergraduate studies with a B.Com at Stella Maris College in 2021. When she entered college, she dreamed of being a writer. However, she was encouraged by one of her professors to consider working in the civil service, which helped boost her confidence to pursue such a career.
Who supported and guided her through her journey?
After working for the Chennai Corporation, particularly during former Commissioner Gagandeep Singh Bedi’s term with respect to its initiatives focusing on creating clean and beautiful neighbourhoods, Gee Gee A.S. felt that these projects said that these efforts convinced her that an effective administrative model could be implemented across the entire country.

Based on her prior experiences, she was motivated to take and prepare for the UPSC Civil Services Exam. To do so, she enrolled in a Foundation course and used various coaching centres and resources from which to study for the Prelims, Mains and Interview phases. On her first attempt, she cleared the UPSC Exam with an All India Rank of 107 and became the topper from Tamil Nadu. As a result, she was appointed to the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 2022. Nevertheless, her long-term aspirations were different, and she worked to improve her score.
She took the UPSC Exam again, but unfortunately was unsuccessful on her second attempt. On her third attempt, she achieved an AIR of 25, marking the achievement of her goal of being an Indian Foreign Service officer. Interestingly, she chose Tamil as her optional subject.
