New Delhi, Jan 22: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has invited application for admission to its PhD and M.Phil programmes for July 2018 session in regular mode. A national-level entrance exam will be conducted on March 4 at select examination centres across the country for students applying for PhD and M.Phil programmes, IGNOU Research Unit Director Prof. Kaustuva Barik announced on Sunday. The last date to submit the application form is February 16. Applications are invited for MPhil in sociology, political science, economics, geography, translation studies, social work, commerce, chemistry and distance education. Those applying for M.Phil in economics are not required to go through the entrance exam but have to be eligible as per the criteria mentioned on the official website of the varsity. IGNOU offers PhD programmes in psychology, anthropology, sociology, library and information science, political science, public administration, history, gender and development studies, women’s studies, geography, translation studies, statistics, food & nutritional sciences, environmental studies, geology, management, life sciences, commerce, Hindi, distance education, nursing, social work, physics, chemistry and biochemistry.

Those applying for PhD in Biochemistry, Physics, and Life Sciences are not required to appear for the entrance exam and would be selected based on eligibility criteria decided by IGNOU.
