Puducherry, May 4: Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Puducherry, has once again established its position as one of the best institutes in training its students to crack one of the toughest exams in the country. This year, all the 23 students from JNV managed to clear IIT JEE (Mains). Adityaraj Singh Chouhan, who joined the institution in class 11, secured 1st position among the 23 candidates who sat for the IIT JEE (Mains). Chouhan scored 261 marks out of the maximum 360 marks and got All India Rank- 1043.
Last year, 20 students from JNV Puducherry cleared the IIT JEE (Main) while 11 of them managed to clear the advanced examination. In 2016, all 23 could sail through the Main examination, however, 16 of them cleared the advanced examination.
The students gave the credit of their success to an NGO called Avanti Fellows. The NGO offers two-year online coaching and training on the merit basis to students coming from the rural background. This online coaching facility is available in seven JNVs across Karnataka and Puducherry.
“Our students have been performing consistently in the last two or three years in the JEE main and advanced examinations. Each student who cleared the exam has a mentor from IIT Madras. The mentors visit the pupil once in a fortnight when they were in Class 12 and offer them valuable tips and guidance in clearing the exams,” JNV, principal B Venkateswaran told The Times of India.
